Notts County v Huddersfield Town part II

An update for this afternoons game.

NOTTS COUNTY 2-2 HUDDERSFIELD TOWN

..............................(0-0).............................................
J Hughes , ....pen, 72nd..............Roberts 52nd..
L Hughes ,....84th.........................Rhodes 58th.

attendance,.............................................8,914.
(All I can add is, well done TOWN fans, That is way above Counties 'average'
You deserved better. it's a hallow victory but......................................
TOWN fans 1-0 TOWN players)

post match Comments from Martin Allen...............
" What a performance,They (Notts players) were absolutley fantastic..we were the better side from start to finish, What we have got in abundance is Team spirit & Unity. They really do care"..........end quote.

County continue their losing ways, after a disappointing 3-2 defeat away at Oldham.
Twice The Magpies took the lead, Went in at half time 2-1 up, & that's the way it stayed till the 70th minute when Oldham equalised. And then went on to take all 3 points, By scoring the winner with just 4 minutes left.

Lee Hughes, 10th min, & Bishop 39th, were the scores for Notts.
More worrying for todays opponents, were 3 bookings,
Sheehan,
Edwards,
Pearce. Then this statement from Martin Allen after the game.

"We'll have to look at some different players. time to introduce some of our younger players into the team.
We can talk about some of the mistakes, but at the end of the day, We'll have to look at different personnel".........

No a happy chappy was he !
taking that into account. Does that make it easier or harder for TOWN !
any preconceived 'plan' will now be redundant 'IF' Allen does what he says .
And TOWN management will be in the dark so to speak if new young blood is introduced.
But here is the crunch, The majority of TOWN fans want to see TOWN take the game to any, & all opposition, with the view that at times , we show too much respect to our opponents & worry too much about them, Instead of going all out with confidence.........& a win attitude,

County are without doubt short on confidence right now.
TOWN have to exploit this, And anything short of an away win is unacceptable to a side with ambitions of automatic promotion.

As already mentioned,
The game is PAY ON THE DAY... with a €1 increase (?)
TOWN fans have already bought 1,600 tickets, So a good following is guaranteed this afternoon,
Interestingly, We are going to 'smash' the highest number of 'away visitors' to Meadow Lane for a league game so far this season !
up to now,
Walsall....827.
Charlton..818.
Brentford. 587.

I'd estimate around 7000 this afternoon,
lets try and make it feel like a home game & give our boys a lift.

Enjoy the game.

Starting eleven for each team.

I won't be there on Friday, had it been on the Saturday I would but I can't make midweek fixtures after work when they're too far away.

Your right Jacko,, Why the Swans and not us ? I would call them a smaller club than us ?? Certainly no bigger, Yet they have graced the top flight twice since we were last there, They played some great stuff back in the early 80s as well as now, I had a bit of a soft spot for "Toshes welsh team", It could easily have been Town with more luck, and Hoyle in the 70/80s - what a difference he would have made, We certainly wont be comparing Swansea to Town, But i should think we will make a Town/Barnsley comparison and i dont think it will be favourable.,,,,,,,,,,, Cas, I tip my hat to yourself n the 38s of this world, But by eck lads you have spent some money watching she ite in the last 18mths from easily the most expensive Town squad ever !

Brentford away and Stevenage at home!

Oh it costs a small fortune, the long distance away matches are the ones that get me either in petrol or train fares. It's worth it though to watch Town in a decent atmosphere rather than the funeral home that is the Galpharm, and some of the best matches I've ever been to are away so it ain't all bad.

Yeah, AND ME !
I get to plenty ...............right traveling Wilberry me you know.

The 'Money' can't come into it Bryce.. It has to be a 'Hobby' ......'Habit' ....or loyalty thing.... even more so in the case of being a TOWN fan,
This last 3 years & disgruntlement with L Clark is frustrating to say the least, We all expect more, & I don't know why.
Because we haven't performed or done ought for years, But i can appreciate the disappointments when players get the salaries they do, The cost of admission & then watching "pub" football.
(But I don't think that can be leveled at just Town) .

What would have me choosing games, Will I, Won't I, is the experience, & I might be in a minority, but watching a game at the Galph' has become so dour & drab, It's not natural, beyond compare to what I remember years ago at Leeds Rd.

I'll admit. There were poor games & teams there too....some shockers, But there was a buzz about the place, That for me, has never been transferred over to the 'new' ground.
more's the pity.

It's bad Jacko.
real bad.

You might not see it being there every other odd week,
bit like a tree that you see every day...you never 'see' it grow. but return 20 years later & the change is right in your face.

But that aside, You only have to look at the atmosphere at the club you & Bryce were talking about earlier !
Swansea.
Now even if we were in the 'Prem'
Do you honestly.
hand on heart,
Think TOWN would be playing in front of crowds like that ?

I don't.
