Was disappointed to hear that Rotherham had signed Luke Foster from us.
I thought he looked like an excellent replacement last season, on a par with Roberts and Ashton and having 3 strong players in that department was great for the squad. I was surprised on occasion when Westley played Bostwick at centre back and Foster in central midfield. Maybe Foster wasn't happy playing back-up, or maybe Westley didn't feel he needed the depth that Foster provided. Either-way I think we've lost a valuable squad member for next season and it came as a surprise to me.
Also disappointed that Rotherham signed Chris Holroyd on a free transfer. He was brilliant in his little spell with us last season, and would have been an excellent signing for us. To me this suggests that we can't compete with Rotherham in terms of the wages we can offer. Understandable since they have a higher average gate than us, but also disappointing.
Bayso has also moved on, to concentrate on coaching. This was fairly obvious from the loan keepers we saw at the club at the back end of last season. I hope to see a permanent back-up in place this season, it'd be good to have a youngster coming through and learning from Daisy. I also hope Bayso ends up coaching at Boro. We've seen with Dino how successful that can be and we know Bayso can be the life and soul and creates helps create a great positive atmosphere. We'll miss his cheer-leading antics at halftime and I for one would welcome seeing him back at Broadhall way as a coach with open arms.

3 Disappointments This Weekend

Some of this mystery is solved today with the signing of 25 year old Phil Edwards from Accrington Stanley.
Described on the club website as "the best utility player in League 2 equally at home as a right back, centre half or holding midfield." Edwards seems to fit nicely into the same niche that Foster filled last season and evidently is more willing to act as a squad player than Foster.
Of course we all know the best utility player in league 2 last season was our own Darius Charles, but have the 2 best utility players from the league can't hurt and at 25 Edwards has his best years ahead of him for us with bodes well.
