I'm probably going to get slaughtered for this article but from what i have seen so far this season we are in a false position and unless we bring in a couple of exceptional players in the January transfer window i don't think we are good enough to make the play/offs let alone win them.
So i have taken a look at our squad and come up with the following for the end of the season:- PLAYERS TO RETAIN:-Atkins(either on loan or sign permanently),Stanton,Webster(if he regains form),Bolder,Palmer,Taylor,Maghoma(not 100% sure),Kee,Richards,Zola.
POSSIBLES as i've not seen enough of them to make a decision:- Gurrieri,Dyer,Yussef,Banton,Garnett,Munn. RELEASE ETC:- Corbett,Austin,James,Moore,Blanchett,Mcgrath,Phillips,Pearson.
Of the players who i would choose to let go, how many of them would command a place in any other team in this league ? 5 of those have given great service to this club, 2 are light weights and one has just unfortunately for him reached the end of his career. No room for sentiment.
I expect a hammering as we all have our own ideas but i'm brave enough to put them in writing. I hope you will all share your opinions with respect in the same way i will respect yours. You are all usually very constructive and humerous in your opinions and that is the kind of response i would like ! please !

I am quite happy for all of them to stay Terrace - with the exception of Taylor, Moore and Phillips. Losing those 3 off the wage bill will enable us to strengthen where we need to. Losing Moore will bring in 2/3 players alone
We have the makings of a good team here and if we are patient it will pay dividends.
I am really enjoying the season. We have been fortunate so many times and picked up lucky points along the way. We are (and have long been) in a false position.
I think that some of our players will want to leave and it will not be our decision to make.

Otep, thanks for a good honest constructive reply, the roller coaster season will continue !! Think everyone would agree about more and Phillips hopefully.

Interesting subject terraceman.
Dont think you will be slaughtered for it.
Agree with most of your lists.
Webster for me would be on his bike. Most others i agree with.
Have been saying for a long time we were in a false position.
All the teams around us we have beaten wern't in any sort of form when they played us.
Swindon & Southend look different propositions now.
Unless he strenghtens the defence i.e left back .right back & centre half plus a decent midfielder leader we are going to struggle.
I'm sure those who went to Northampton would agree the starting 11 would still be 2-1 down if they were still playing now.
Changes are needed now

I think I'd agree with the keep list apart from one - Atkins. The guy never fills me with confidence whenever I see him play. I'll obviously give him huge credit for the penalty save yesterday, but from my line the first goal seemed to go into the centre of the goal (not corner) and he made no real attempt to get there. The second also looked like it could/should(?) have been a comfortable save. He's obviously young and will likely get better, but I'd just like to see someone else in goal, or at least some other competition to try and keep him on his toes. Just my thoughts.
