I was going to add this comment to the thread on the last match summing up my thoughts on the penalty incident, but after reading the latest article in the mail I think it deserves its own thread.
Firstly Ronnies tackle. Watched it a couple of times on the iPlayer and even run it frame by frame.
I can see why the penalty was given. He went in from the back and scooped the ball from the defender. Defender made contact and went over. IMO at no time did Ronnie have control of the ball. Atkins picked it up
No malice from either player. Penalty. Ive seen them given and Ive seen them let go.
I think the sending off was harsh.
Todays mail. Read it on line, almost fell off the office chair.
To quote our manager:
“I thought we kept possession of the ball and completely dominated the game".
“They’ve had two shots at goal and they’ve both hit the back of the net — and that was it in a nutshell".
“We get what seems like 35 shots and they’re all blocked, but I thought we performed well".
I have to ask myself if I was watching the same game? I think I saw him there........was he the guy leaning against the dugout with his arms folded?
If his summing up of the game is an honest opinion then im afraid he's in the wrong job.
Mr Manager bloke, That was an awful performance from almost everyone on the pitch. 90+ minutes of utter drivel against a team that are struggling to stay in this league. You fielded a side whose defenders couldnt defend. The midfield was totally missing and strikers who need sat-nav to find the goals.
Or was i at a different game?

Hi DeepSigh, i listened to that interview after the game on the Albion iplayer. I felt the same as you,my mate came over from Stafford to see the game and he was surprised how bad we were. I don't think i've openly criticised Pesch before but if that is how he saw it and thought about the game i can think of 3,000 others who did not. We were awful, no shape, structure, thoughfulness and favourite tactic pump it up the middle to Zola. Very little constructive ideas throughout the team and not enough fight. Usually we are guarenteed spirit. I remember the Cheltenham home game earlier this season when it was men against boys, they came with a game plan, used physical muscle to compete before they played there football and made us look weak and inept. Now we have done well this season after last seasons debacle and i know Pesch n Gary are still learning but comments like Pesch made after the Hereford match alienate you from the supporters who virtually all saw it very differently. That is dangerous territory because the supporters lose confidence in a boss who makes such statements. I think he needs to redress that statement to give us belief he knows how to fix the problems. We are not too far away from having a useful team and he has said he needs to strengthen. This transfer window is going to be a very important one for Pesch to keep the supporters belief in him.

Deepsigh.
Absolutely spot on.
I wont comment anymore on what youve said as youve said it all.
One point i will make is about our last 2 home games.
Dagenham & Hereford came to the Pirelli Stadium having lost 8 on the trot and not won in 9 respectively.
They left with 4 points and possibly should have been 6.
Not sure what if any motivation techniques are being used but sadly they are not working.
We have come out the last 2 home games with no desire showing whatsoever.
We the fans pay the players wages and if we failed to turn up they would be out of work.
Times are hard for lots of people who spend hard earnt money to watch the Brewers.
We derserve a better return for our money.

Agree with all the comments made on this thread, particularly with regard to how Pesch saw the game. Absolutely staggered when I heard that and let's be honest, he spent the whole game with his hands in his pockets watching, so you'd think he'd have seen the same game as us.
I've never been convinced with Peschisolido as manager, not ever, and comments such as that just seem to strengthen my view.

I think one of the problems we have as supporters this season is that we are in my opinion in a false position in the
league and i think we have come to expect alot from a squad of players that are not good enough to push for a
play off place , we have some very good individuals but we have some players who are just not good enough for this league and yes the Manager has made some mistakes in some decisions and some players he as signed but he is not doing a bad job, sort the defence out bring in a decent midfielder who can create and things could be different.

I dont think we are in a false position. We are in the top 10 despite leaking goals like a sieve and are there because we have the points.
We seem to lack consistantcy, Look at the different perfomances between wimbledon at home and the rubbish they served up against Hereford.
If i knew how to cure that I would be standing in a designer suit with my hands in pockets leaning against the dug-out!
The mail article also said Pesc is after a central right back and a midfield playmaker. So we'll have to see and give him chance. But at the same time he has to clear out the underperformers.........and some of those are normally the first on his team sheet.
