Jimmy K

Big rumours going around we've put a bid in for him, He's been refusing to sign a contract for a while now so maybe they will get rid.

BUt on the other hand doesnt that mean the Stewart idea has gone...

This says Kebe is basically gone http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11673/7410389/Kebe-set-for-Royals-exit

"Jimmy Kebe; while he has obvious abilities in pace and power, he often seems to lack a football brain when I see him."

How much of a footballing brain does a winger need?

If you a right winger: Get the ball to feet, put your head down and run really fast with the ball whilst ensure the white line on your right stays a constant distance away from you. Once the white lines changes direction at a flag, stop running so fast and kick the ball at a right angle to the left and into the air.

If you are a left winger: Do the same, except the kicking and white line swap around.

Kebe is better than anything we have got, remember we are in the championship and mis table. Attracting top players won't be as easy as if we were in the top 6. I think Kebe would offer something different on the right rather than just relying on Gallaghers dead ball specialisms. I also think Stewart as well as Kebe are possible signings.

'Stewart deal will still be on - Kebe right winger, Stewart left.'

I was hoping this. One winger and it's an improvement, but two would be a shock to the system. I can't even remember what a decent winger looks like!

That said I do have the same doubts about Kebe as the posters above. No doubt he's better than Dyer but he's not been at his best this season at all, he may be regressing and I always thought he was inconsistent, as did Sven (we never actually bid for him in the summer despite the rumours).

We need at least one winger, of that I have no doubt.

Izzet - yes it's as simple as it sounds. Sadly, a lot of wingers are thick as owt and can't do the simplest of things!

Look at Dyer - pace to burn but too stupid to just knock it by someone and run!

it's easy to find wingers but very hard to find ones who can skin people all day and put in a final ball consistently. Bale for example doesn't often do anything fancy, but he's a rare commodity all the same.

Kebe has started 17 games and been sub for 3 more out of 25 league matches so Brian McDermott must think he's OK - he certainly sounds as if he is disappointed at the thought of losing Kebe (although this could be the usual words to try and boost the sale price).

I remember Kebe ripping us to shreds last year so I think I'd rather have him playing for us. Incidentally, if he had a final delivery to match the pace and penetration he would be playing for a premiership side!

In regard to Stewart, yes he looked really good at Hull - when we had 10 men. How does he fare without so much room? Also does he not have a bad injury record? I'm not saying I don't want him by the way.

If either or both do come then they will have the Steve Walsh (senior) & Nige stamp of approval which is good enough for me!

I think Stewart is the kind of winger who will try to trick his way past defenders before crossing, like Brady and Ward. Kebe is the type of winger we need IMO, taking defenders out with bursts of pace. Our build up is too slow and the opposition have time to get back and get men behind the ball, so we need the wingers to counter this problem.

I think if we got both they'd offer us the different dimensions we need.

Blackpool, are you referring to the game last season at the Madjeski, when Reading beat us 3-1.
Jimmy Kebe had a fine game, Am I right in saying that it was Kebe that ran the whole length of the pitch and set up the third goal.
But I do agree that he isn't the answer, and lioke Dungeon says, I would much rather see Cam Stewart come here from Hull, He tore us apart at the KC last month.

"I think I'll have his name on the back of my shirt. A bottle of tippex should do it."

Good idea, DM. After the first rash burst of enthusiasm that made you have it printed, that 2007 Hossein Kaebi shirt can't have had many outings, so you may as well do a quick TippexShop job on it…

gloria thats the one, he did tear us apart in midfield that game, along with Shane Long in attack, however there was so many chances in that game that Kebe fluffed - his end product was dismal. He did have maybe 4-5 decent deliveries or efforts on goal but in all honesty they should have got 5-10 goals past us that game.

The most frustrating thing about Jimmy is that on his day he is the best winger in the league but sometimes he just doesn't seem interested and is basically none existent. We have made him a new offer so we'll see what happens but if he turns it down i'd expect him to go back to France.
