GB olympic football

So, we are to play a British side in the olympics after all.

Surely we can put a reasonable side out for that?

What nation do you think will dominate?

What would your suggested side be?

P49 that in fact was one of the suggestions made that players from the English and Scottish Premier leagues would be excluded another being only players with fewer than 10 caps and under 25, there have been so many suggestions that is one of the reasons there is so much debate between the home nations deciding who is eligable who not how to choose the side who to manage etc etc. The main worry is though that once one team plays in any competition as GB FIFA/UEFA would try and make all four home home FA's combine to put out one side - Stupid really when they allow Andora - San Marino etc to put out sides.

Putting the arguments aside you can pick any British player!

Whats your best side and manager?

Manager Bill Shankley - GK Pat Jennings
Back 5/Midfield in a M formation 2 full backs 1 CB and 2 midfield defenders from Duncan Edwards - Bobby Moore - Billy Bremner - Eddie Hapgood - Roger Byrne.
Midfield forwards in w formation so effectively 3-4-3 George Best - Stanley Matthews - Nat Lofthouse - William Henry(Billy) Smith - Jimmy Smailes - with subs - Jimmy Johnstone - Jack Kelsey - Alan Ball - John Atyeo - Ivor Allchurch - John Charles - Brian Clough
The defence might be a bit suspect rather holy but the forwards would make up for that being able to Ghost past the opposition to score at will.

What you don't think that would be a good side banksy? especially if they played to proper rules for football which allowed tackling rather than a free kick given if you sneeze near the keeper(It might blow him over or put him off with the load noise affecting his delicate eardrums).

Basicaly I would look at the U-21's for the home nations over the last 2and next year and pick from them. Manager Harry Rednap.

P49 the only reason I know so much about it is I have a relative who works for the Welsh FA. not in a position high enough to get hold of important tickets for me though.(D am n)

Some of the finest players ever to wear their club shirts have to admit it would have been awesome to have had a side inc Best, Matthews, Lofthouse, Bremner, Moore and Duncan Edwards that would truely have been a dream team a nightmare for the opposition though.
