What's our chances of beating Wigan and progressing to the next round ?
Personally I think the best we will manage Saturday is a draw. Even if Wigan put out a weakened side as expected they still have quality players like Maloney who will be out to prove a point to Martinez. Would imagine A draw is the last thing Wigan would want and maybe even us so im hoping for an open game and certainly wouldn't put any money on a 0-0. It seems as though the last few tickets have been sold which is great and hopefully if Swindon put on a show some of the stay away fans will be able to come back for some of the league games. I think it's right when some pundits are calling this game a banana skin for Wigan but I'll be keeping my
feet firmly on the ground and am more worried about Tuesdays Semi Final against Barnet. Think there will be goals so I'm predicting 2-2.
FA Cup third round.

I think that Notts misunderstood me. I know the tradition of our fans behind the Town End.
But looking into the sun before it gets dark has to be a problem for any side. Doesn't matter what support you have behind you.

Thats an interesting point about the sun Gollum. I wonder if it is more of a hindrance in the first or second half. A few weeks back the sun was still strong for the start of the second half and was coming in low between the town end and the Arkells so maybe we chose to turn around ourselves. Still like the attacking the town end second half option and always feel a little bit more confident that way.

If I were playing, Notts, I'd rather not face the sun for 45 minutes than the odd 10 minutes or so before it gets dark!
But it might not be sunny! In which case, I have talked a load of nonsense.
But, I like talking to you guys anyway - you speak a lot of sense, I try to keep up!

Enjoy reading your posts too Gollum. I guess we are lucky we are talking about the sun rather than frozen or snow bound pitches at this time of year. Hope the sun does shine tomorrow regardless of which end we are facing at the kick off.

Incredible, Im still on a high right now, we were brilliant I don't think any player could have been faulted. Wigan kept possesion very well and were very good on the ball they just lacked the ability to create any chance agaisnt a very organised and deteremined Town defence.
Their pen was a mistake by Flint, he dived in when he didn't need too as Caddis was covering and he should of stood. Unlucky with the pen with it hitting the post and their winger was the quickest to react with the rebound.
But I think that goal was the best thing that could of happened to us, after that we were just incredible we applied even more pressure on their players and our passing game started to shine through and after a long time of sustained pressure, some brilliant play involving Ferry, Ritchie, Caddis and of course Connell got us the equalliser, Ritchie's ball was perfect and Connell got a beautiful back header into the bottom corner.
The second half there was only one team out there, we were simply the better team, some more brilliant play down the left should have been finished better by Ritchie but hey, The second goal was lucky but we had two blatant penalties turned down. A shot by Ritchie deflected off an offside Benson, but I don't care!
Ratings.
Foderingham - 8 - Didn't have much to do Wigan had one shot on target and he didn't have much chance with it.
Caddis - 10 - Was brilliant, I thought he would struggle agaisnt a lot higher quality but he was just as good with brilliant runs and link up play with Ritchie
McCormack - 10 - Faultless, didn't let a ball pass him and his tackling was impeckable.
Flint - 9 - Same as McCormack but let down by the bad foul for the Penalty
Kennedy - 8 - Solid with some impressive cross and build up play.
Ritchie - 10 - Two assists and just brilliant all day had their left back in all kinds of trouble every day he had a run.
Ferry - 10 - Did the simple stuff so brilliant as always, I believe him keeping possesion for us in the middle was one of the main points we won.
Smith - 8 - Bit rash in places, but settled to be a valuable part in our midfield.
De Vita - 9 - Was brilliant, Emmerson Boyce struggled with him all day and had some brilliant touches.
Murray - 6 - Unfornuately for him he couldn't get into the game and got taken off at half time.
Connell - 10 - Amazing hold up play, amazing link up play and a great finish with his head, was simply faultless
Subs
Benson - 10 - Same as Connell, he also linked up with Connell very well.
Cibbochi and Magera came on late and played well.
Finally to summarise, Paolo has these players full of passion and full of belief this guy may the best thing to happen to this club for a long time and am looking foward to a long succesful tenure under him. Lets bring on Barnet on tuesday in the JPT area final for a chance to go to Wembley. It is brilliant to be a Town fan right now. Im so proud! COYR!!!!!!

Excellent report ST. It's a very long time since I've felt so optimistic about the future. Your last para sums it up perfectly!
