is hampering their bid for the title according to the media.
Let`s see Vidic and Fletcher did not feature against Newcastle, the regular goalie is not injured was dropped, Cleverely is injured, but has hardly played regularly in the first team, so can hardly be called a first XI regular.
Can anybody else tell me whom else was missing. Or are the media once again going way over the top about United`s injuries. Other clubs are not allowed to use injuries as an excuse, so why United, whom as far as I can see have no more than any other team.
Man Uniteds crippling injury list

remember we've rushed Anderson and Hernandez back about a month ahead of schedule

so are they fit or not?? to me if you are on the team sheet they must think you are fit enough to at least play a part?

Not always, you put often Gerrard on the bench to gee the fans up when he has no chance of appearing

It isn't simple as saying a couple of starters were out.
Vidic, Smalling and Evans were out, thus Jones had to play in CB. This meant a weakened back 4 and a weakened midfield. With Cleverly and Fletcher out as well, this further weakened the midfield.
I am not one for making excuses for Man Utd, but to say they only had 2 starters out so no injury crisis is being unfair.

Vidic, Smalling and Evans
Smalling and Evans can hardly be called regulars they are squad players like all other teams have. It is like saying that Spurs have say Kranjaer and Bassong injured.
Of their regular first XI only Vidic and Fletcher can be described as absolute certainities, and even Fletcher is not always picked.
Spurs played WBA without King, Lennon and Parker, all 3 certain starters in the first XI if fit. Nobody is saying that Spurs have a crippling injured list though are they.

But that's the point, squad players have had to become regulars because of all the injuries and are now getting injured themselves. Smalling and Evans have played nearly 40 games between them so far this season.
This is why we have a winger playing right back and have had Carrick playing at centre back at times.

But when first team players are out, and the back ups are out, thats when you have real problems!!
You should be able to legislate for first teamers being out, but it is a lot harder when their back ups, and the back ups back up are also out.
Its no so much about the number of the injuries alone, it is the number of injuries in two positions that is the problem.

Hedley ...TBH they have been hit pretty hard with injuries , dont forget Ashley Young as well .....Mind you plenty of other clubs have also had a rotten run as well
