Listen...We Want NickY .....

When you have a high calibre player in your team he is bound to attract attention,we all know that,we have had NM with us for 3 years,he's been a prolific goalscorer,a serious injury has been dealt with and he's back to his level best..

We know this player,he likes it here,we know his value as a player and qualities and his contribution to our team

Our owner, our chairman, our manager and our player and his agent will decide the outcome of his future with Bristol City FC and in consultation with it's fanbase,no one else.

All interested parties can waffle but BCFC will decide and at the moment the answer is NO SALE until an unbeatable offer comes in and we might consider it..

He is under contract for 1 more year to Bristol City FC and make no mistake WE ALL WANT NICKY TO STAY...

wize....some observations.
Rovers are often accused of lacking ambition...of not taking the plunge and really going for promotion. This coming season may be different, but only because the alternative is oblivion.
Now there's nothing wrong with being an established Championship side....something we can only dream of.
But as regards pushing for promotion to the Premier League City are not sending out the right signals. You should be fighting tooth and nail to keep Maynard, offering him a really attractive contract, with perhaps the option to speak to clubs at the end of the coming season if you don't make the play-offs.
You should have James's situation sorted. If you lose both do you really look like an ambitious side?
Your two signings may well turn out to be good ones; but are they the signings of a club driving for promotion?
You had a negative goal difference last season,
where's the strengthening of your defence?
The Championship gets tougher season by season. Nobody should expect Lansdown to splash his money around, but I should imagine other clubs are not shaking in their boots at the moment.
And, yes, we're in L2!!

Millen is taking time to bring in the right defensive players..... im in no doubt. We didnt get Caulker in until very late last season, afterall I dont think any champioship clubs have made many larger profile signings, maybe Ipswich and West 'am, long time left yet, he knows what he wants and he is a brother on a mission.
As the season went on it became clearer to me with the emergence of Cisse that a central midfielder isnt so much of a priority as some defenders, him and Marv were awesome in the middle and sides at times struggled to get at Caulker/Fonts/Carey and Nyatanga.

The defenders are being sought but it is pointless signing players for the sake of signing them who ever we bring in has to be at least as good preferably better than what we already have or be young and ambiyious with that little something that makes you think they might be special. Just noticed in the Sheffield paper Millwall, Barnsley, Derby as well as several div 1 clubs wanted the lad so Taylor must have something about him. With regard to Nicky he has been offered a new contract which would make him the highest paid player at the club and talks are ongoing the James situation is odd because it is up to DJ himself the contract automatically became offered once he had played 30 games (I was told)for us and he apparently wants to stay Henderson seems to think he will be signing for another year or he would have already signed ready to fight it out for the number one jersey. Yannick may prove to be the real joker in the pack if he does anything like as well as Adomah did then worries about not scoring will disappear what would be worrying other championship defences is Albert reckons Yannick is better than he is seems like a mouth watering prospect.
As regards to Rovers not being ambitious or lacking ambition that was the case some years back when you had the best side in Bristol(Hate to admit it but in the past you did for a time) but the then board were happy to carry on and not try and push on I had older relatives who followed the Gas (shameful I know) and they were always bemoaning the fact that City had Harry Dolman backing them and I won't repeat what they said about the board at Eastville at the time and for years afterwards. Your problem seems to be in the boardroom moreso than on the field your scouting set up has been better than ours for years and you keep unearthing good players and selling them but you never have money to buy new players, which is what always seems to have been the case, at one time I thought the best way to get a top side playing in Bristol was to merge the two teams but I am always greatful it never happened because I would have hated to have had the members of your board involved with running a football club I supported.
This isn't a WUM or anything but until the board show some ambition I'm afraid you are likely to struggle, god forbid you have to go through what we had to endure in 82 when we didn't know for quite a while if we were going to have a club to support, we might like winding the Gas up from time to time as you do with us but in the main most Reds would like the Gas to do well just not as well as us of course(that goes without saying) as two clubs doing well would raise the profile of the city I love.

P49,I agree with so much of what you observe it's worrying..

About BRFC,it's obvious there been a massive change there but is it shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted,I don't know,I'll leave that one to the boys in blue.

With regards to BCFC,I'm still not sure about Millen but with all the changes at the top things need time to settle and I do want to see ambition being displayed, hence my post about Nicky but if you accepted £1m for a quality player like Lambert would we be that far out in getting say £4m or £5m for NM.

We have got a good squad Structure in place and yes the areas of weakness you highlight I aknowledge, but it's not yet the end of June and as Keef says "Some of the others are proving more difficult and taking more time, but we are working hard on them,It's not that I'm just signing attacking players, I know we need a midfielder and we must strengthen the defence"

I,unreservedly trust Steve Lansdown and have no doubt the finance and ambition displayed by him will drive this club onward.

It could be advantageous for other clubs to under estimate us and the next 6 weeks will be very interesting.

As this thread was meant to convey, this club from top to bottom wants Nicky to stay but if he goes,it will be,a) at the behest of BCFC,and B) for the benefit of BCFC only.
