From the perspective of an Aussie who has seen Boycott, Lawie etc. todays innings from Dave Warner was very entertaining indeed and from an Aussies view it was good to watch him smash the bowling attack all over the park.
BUT
Give me Cowens innings any day where he played less risk shots and looked after his number 3 batsman from facing the new ball.
Full credit to Warner and his innings BUT what is going to happen when OZ are chasing 450 or so and need someone to see out the new ball and some, without any risk shots to endeavour to get a draw.
Watson is due back from injury shortly......what happens then..?????
We end up with two openers playing 20/20 style and with 2 for 6 and exposing the middle order to the new ball.
I might well be from the old school but give me Boycott & Lawrie as openers any day of the week to place the team on a platform consistantly other then once every 2 - 3 test matches...
Your opinion is welcome.....my perspective is this 20/20 rubbish will ruin true 5 day test cricket.......cheers.
Give me Boycott over Warner any day..?

Afridi.....the trouble is Warner plays his own game against any opposition....
He needs to take hold of the situation on hand and deal with it....this smash at anything is O.K for a talented No.5 but not an opener...IMO

Dave....you are correct, I'm judging Warner to quickly....
Another thing that worries me about Warner is his attitude....he is full of himself like Shane Warne was/is towards the end of his career but at least Warne waited until he had the runs on the board (so to speak)
Warner was asked directly after todays play about the quickest 100 and his reply was.....he thought it was off 67 deliveries......now why on earth would a perspective opener even be concerned about the quickest hundred besides quote a figure on it.....
Warner is paid like a celerbrity and behaves like one and I'm not in favour of a sportsman acting in such a manner until he has done the hard work to become one..cheers.

Don't see how you can complain I'm sure the selectors aren't dumb enough to partner Watson with Warner. Watson should drop to his rightful place at 6/7 so that he can bowl more.
I recorded play and i'm watching his innings now. And it really isn't as if he played a shot a ball. Just hit the bad balls/ordinary balls, for which there were a lot.
Can't say i'm enjoying the innings though. He's a very ugly player to watch.

Decent batsman, but not an opener. May as well not play if he's not going to bowl.

IMO Watson should come in at 6 with Warner at 5.....
