Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has indicated that Sunderland's James McClean is unlikely to be part of his Euro 2012 squad.
McClean has been in superb form in recent weeks for the Black Cats which has led to speculation that he could force his way in the Irish squad.
But Trapattoni said on Friday that he intends to remain loyal to the squad that qualified for the finals.
"Those players deserve to come with us to the finals," said Trapattoni.
The club form of McClean and Norwich's West Hoolahan has led to suggestions that they could make late bids for inclusion in the Euro 2012 squad.
However, Trapattoni emphasised on Friday the efforts of the "players who achieved our qualification".
Trapattoni insisted that he was "paying attention" to the club form of players such as McClean and Hoolahan.
"If we have injuries, we can talk about these different players because (at the moment) we have in every position players we have depend on. Now we have enough.
"We must have respect for the players who achieved qualification. I think they deserve to go (to Euro 2012)."
McClean played for Northern Ireland at youth and Under-21 level but opted for the Republic last year after turning down a Northern Ireland senior call-up.
After a number of outings as substitute, the Derry-born player made his first Sunderland start in the New Year's Day win over Manchester City and he scored in the 4-1 win over Wigan two days later.

Although I understand Trapps has loyalty to those players who achieved qualifiication I find it bizarre that he can completely rule someone in or out at this early stage. What if McLean has a stoming second half of the season? Players should be picked if they are good enough and on form. Simple as that.
McLean not going to Euros?

As long as he doesn't include the likes of Paul Green! Mc Clean will get chance in t the next few years.

I think he's right to show loyalty as long as it doesn't mean players who've hardly played a game this season are getting in ahead of McLean.
To be honest though, I don't think Hoolahan has a hope unfortunately because he's naturally a midfield diamond player and isn't going to fit into the Trap system.

Gibbo is right. If they have a "storming second half to the season", they should at least be considered.Although, if there's a glaring me feiner streak running through a player, loyalty trumps it.But enough about Cork people...
