According to this article Don Rowing says that money is available to Sir Hillcroft if he wants to further strengthen the squad. I had the impression Hill was working on the basis of having to sell/loan out before he could bring in new blood.
Butters getting injured really threw a spanner in the works as I think most of us had resigned to him leaving in this window for a few million, with which Hill could have bought a whole new starting 11.
"The Star understands that Hill already has his eye on next season’s squad, with his primary aim this term to keep the club in the Championship."
I have a feeling however we will only bring in one more player, most likely a defender and more whole sale changes will be made at the end of the season.

If Doyle goes I assume we will have his wages to bring in another player like Dagnall/Haynes. We could still do with another squad player or 2 in case of injuries. Not much cover at back when you look at it.

Gotta say the Doyle thing puzzles me a bit. When Drinkwater, O'Brien and Butters were all out injured KH was 'complaining' about 'bare bones again' etc. yet we never recalled Doyle from PNE.
Then we do a short extension on Addison's loan to get us through January but still leave Doyle available for transfer. For me, I think Doyle is well capable of playing the role Addison's been playing so I wonder, has there been a bust-up, or is Doyle simply on too much brass having been signed during the MR era?
Last season, Doyle was one of our most improved players, what's going on? Views, please!!

One of the things I rate about Hill...he's not afraid to change his mind (Addison... McEveley) but I think he just doesn't rate Doyle for some reason....His wage could have bearing though.

Doyle was player of the year behind shackell last season. Hes a much better player than addison in all departments (apart from in the air as there is a 2ft difference ). He can play in a number of positions CM, DM, RB & CB which is something Hillcroft wants from all his players. The fans for the most part like Doyle i think so from all that I can only gather that his face just does not fit / Hillcroft dosent like him as a player/person. shame because he would do a job in that side im sure.

I have no doubt. Say what you like about Doyle, he's much-improved from when we signed him; his work-rate is good and his passing is much better. All I can think is that he falls into the 'less ambitious' category of players which Hill has referred to; he's a good player and let's face it - we NEED all the good players we can get.

Spart , as usual talks out of his a'rse......''Hillcroft have their targets...if any become available (as Dagnall did) they'll move...if not, we're SOUND TILL SUMMER.'' <<<<< Ha ha ha .....or should that be Ga ga ga. Clearly he didn't go down to t'well today.
