Alternative transfer targets...

Right, so we all know we might be getting Hoillet, Samba and Remy and a few people on here are very excited about this!

However, i feel there are some alternative targets, some of whom have been overlooked, that could do a better job for a similar price.

Target no.1 Marko Marin. Astonishingly struggling to get playing time at Bremen this season, despite being their best player for the last few years. Young, and with a playing style similar to messi, he would provide competition for Bale, Lennon and can also play behind the striker. Has made noises about wanting to move to force his claim for first team football ahead of the Euro's and i believe he would give Lennnon a run for his money in the team, despite how impressive Lennon has been for us this season. Us spurs fans saw his quality last year in the champions league where he was far and away Bremen's most dangerous player both matches.

Target no.2 Lukas Podolski. Really feel his playing style would suit the premier league, he is quick, strong, clinical and has a great left foot. Has torn the Bundesliga apart this season with an amazing amount of goals and assists and could be the "top quality" striker we need to push on and really challenge for the title. That lot up the road want him as well so would be a major coup if we stole in and signed him. Would be relatively cheap given what top quality strikers go for these days and would love him at the lane.

Target no. 3. Mario Mandzukic. Ok this is a wild card. Young croatian striker who is quick, good on the floor and good on the ground. Currently playing for Wolfsburg, he is unproven, but would not be too expensive and could be that "Berbatov" type signing we are all craving. He is also croatian. Enough said. No brainer, Case closed.

that's where BAE and Walker come in. When we are unfortunate enough to have say Lennon missing, Walker gets instructions to drive forward more.

their first job is to defend though. that may be fine against worse sides but v top sides i dont know if its a good idea to constantly have our fullbacks flying forward because they are suddenly the only wide attacking outlet we have.

Ah front row seat! Will get a good view of the cliff we are about to drive off of

View of the window? 17 days in and we are yet to make any sort of move, why dont they just make the window a week long?

fridgeboy, take your point - but just to clarify, I didn't say it was 'a good deal'. I said it was a chance to get him 'a good deal below his market value' (ie, a good amount less), but I can see why it was misread.

I had also heard that there was talk of him taking a pay cut to nearer the 120k mark. Again it's all rumours...but if you start adding it up, even using the figures that you've mentioned - if he's the 'special player' that means we win the league, it does start to make a bit more financial sense.
