Gary Neville-Pot Black?

Yesterday, In some strange way, my dish managed to pick up Liverpool TV and it happened to be showing their Most Wanted moments from their treble season. Since I was bored, I decided to sit back and watch.

Firstly, I must ask if any team has won a luckier, flukier and quite honestly more mediocre treble in history?!!!!!!!!

They won the Worthington Cup on penalties after the ref denied Ham what was a very clear penalty and sending off.

They won the FA cup after Henchoz cleared Henry's shot off the line with his hand and Arsenal missed numerous chances.

In the Uefa Cup, They contrived to blow a 2 goal lead once and even after going ahead were still pegged back. Had two of their opponents players sent off!! Before getting the winning goal through an own goal!!!!!!!!

That's not what this article is about though. Among those moments, they managed to show their two wins over United that season and Guess who looked like he was being controlled on PS1??

Gary Neville of course. He conceded the free kick for Murphy's goal by UNNECESSARILY handling a harmless long ball with nobody around him with his TWO hands!!!!!!! No guile at all! Then he looked incredulously at the referee for having the temerity to blow for what was as blatant as possible.

In the other leg, Gary 'PS1' Neville handled another shot going straight at goal which the referee missed to the furore of the Pool players! This was the highlight of his horrible defensive performance in a match that could be shown to Children around the World on how not to defend.

If my calculations are right, Neville was exactly the same age as David 'PS2' Luiz is now. These were the only two games of his I remember from that season and he was horrific. Quite recently, I saw Goater's goal against United and no prizes for guessing who fed that goat the ball for that goal.

Luiz makes mistakes and is rightly criticized for it, most times, it does go over-the-top. But any one he receives from Gary Neville is quite clearly a case of the Pot calling a kettle black.
