I'm not a lover of giving out 5 year contracts....to much can happen in 2 years besides 5.....

I see this as a players who loves Rugby League and wanting to stay at his hometown club, who have been very successful in recent years. He scoring tries at international level as well so as the saying go's 'He's happy within in his own skin"

I can fully understand why a player would want to sign a 5 year deal.
But from a clubs perspective.....yes it ties a good player up from getting poached and paid on todays rate etc. but it's a huge pay-out if injuries come his way or fatigue...besides look how some/most players turn in very good games when the end of a contract is approaching in order to get an extension or impress other clubs...some players have been known to sit back an not get as involved once they have their futures sealed..IMO

Great news for club, country & the game as a whole!
Rabbitohs, can see where you're coming from, but most contracts nowadays will be underwritten with clauses; for the safeguarding of both player and club interests. Even so, I think you're right to be cautious (when considering long term deals) with regards to some players.
I guess it would be a worry if Hall was a mercenary, injury prone, an idiot off the pitch or just plain lazy. Thankfully, he isn't any of the above. He's Leeds through 'n' through, a bright, sensible lad and a hard worker who misses very few games.
He won't get homesick - a la Eastwood - or try pulling a fast one - a la Orford. All should be fine in this case, I reckon.

It's also done financially you offer shorter contracts for more money per year. But give a player security and a 5 year deal you can get them cheaper.
Weigh that up against loss of form and injury though, however only the best players get 5 year offers and he is in his prime and a model professional. Burrows and Sinfield are on 5 year deals about 3 years in.
