Orford is rumoured to be signing with my mob South Sydney...G'rrrr
I've got a mate who is in contact with a couple of R/League reporters and he rang me yesterday with this terrible news of Orfords move that had my blood pressure rise very fast.
My first thoughts were, my mate is having me on in knowing how I would be so annoyed on hearing this news. After all I do give him a fair bit of stick re; his Newcastle Knights being pretending favorites for the NRL competition.
He assures me his isn't pulling my chain.......
This conversation was some 24hrs ago now and it didn't appear in this mornings press, so I'm constantly looking on the net to see if there is any truth in this horrible rumour and seeing if it is going to be in tomorrows papers...
I'm not usually one to get so worked up over rumours but this one has hit home pretty hard being awful Orford.
Orford and his manager tried to manipulate more money out of Manly when his contract was up and they didn't take the bait, they shook his hand and said best of luck......then his manager caught Bradford with their pants down and ripped them off, only for the Canberra Raiders to follow suit and sign this slower then a front rower No.7.
Since Canberra cut ties (at a cost) with Orford his manager has been door knocking on every NRL clubs door since, only to have it slammed on his face........I hope our CEO has got his door hinges well oiled so it doesn't leave him with an injury after slamming it on Orford and his manager so as the message finally hits home.......Orford is finished.

As a Bulls fan souths can see your problem - however as a player on the field, Orford was class.
hate the little focker with a passion but he can play a bit!

Way past his best and injury prone would be an awful appointment, can understand your annoyance if it is true.
You should protest at the club.

Orford is well past his sell by date. Not good enough for any NRL club. He might be good enough for a Queensland cup side.

So very true....
It's a shame the old captain/coach role in all forms of rugby league has been abolished....Orford obviously has the football knowledge and would be a terrific service to the game for Q'land cup or NSW group captain/coach.
Unfortunately after watching his manager over the last 3 years I doubt a hard working position for less then 100K is in either of their minds at present, it appears they both think he is worth 300+K per season..
