All out to win a trophy? Barton's off, Nolan's rejected a new contract, Smith's been released after 4yrs on the sick, Enrique has one on the exit, you're left with a striker who can't find the net (Ranger), another who is out of his depth (Ameobi) and a Danish guy who is past his prime (Lovenkrands). The £35m for Andy Carroll WON'T be given to rebuild/strengthen. Mike's probably gambled that away by now anyway. You guys had a good start to last season under Hughton, had it not been for that, Utd would probably have been sweating it out on the last day with Wolves, Blackburn and Wigan. The fact that Curbishley is staying on seems to be the influence that is driving Barton & Nolan away. They clearly have no faith in him to take Newcastle any further than they did in 10/11. It's a shame, because your ground is superb, the fans are some of the most passionate in England and everyone likes a beer in the Toon after the match. If a club like Fulham are capable of attracting a manager like Martin Jol, then why is NUFC not showing the same ambition? Alan Curbishley is a dire manager who plays a dire game. I fear for your survival under him next season.
BTW - are you going to sign Steven Ireland? Did he actually get a game for you last season?
