Raffaele De Vita

One Striker down, Two more to come. Striker coming from Livingston and has a fantastic record there, 41 goals in 67 games. Bought for his potential not for our main strikers.

Also Paolo says 3 deals to be imminent. This is one of them and one is another striker and probably Commazi is the third?

“We will have two strikers, one very tall but with good feet and technique and able to play football, not only in the box but also make space for the others," the former West Ham striker told the Advertiser.

“He also has great experience even though he is still young - he is only 23 – and plays in an international league. It would be fantastic if he arrives and signs a contract and we are hopeful, but we will see.

“(The other) player for me can score lots of goals but can also help others score lots of goals with the way I want to play.

“The second striker that we want to bring in is a striker who has scored lots of goals in English football and can still score even more in my opinion.

“He can score lots of goals and he can help others score lots of goals as well."

looks promising!

Only 21 in 67 - not a great strike rate on the surface - though over 3 yrs, first when he was 20 - probably backup and not used a lot.

These may look better

08-09 Total appearances 2 (* + 5 as sub); Goals 1; Yellow cards 0; Red cards 0
09-10 Total appearances 26 (* + 7 as sub); Goals 11; Yellow cards 5; Red cards 0
10-11 Total appearances 15 (* + 17 as sub); Goals 12; Yellow cards 3; Red cards 0

So can be seen from stats not number one striker for Livingston, but a good rate of return when he did. That 12 is the same as Paynter for the first couple of years but with more starts.

Sounds like a young lad learning his trade and now looking to move on up.

Also talking to someone I know in the region, quite liked him and couldn't figure out why he didn't start more. (that sounds familiar).

Only time will tell, but I think it shows he has some grit being able to live in Livingston for 3 years - I know I used to live there too (mind you long before they even thought about having a football team) - so if he can bring that grit to Div2 it could be interesting.

So that's a goalkeeper, a left back, an experienced centre back and two strikers and then we're ready I think.

Evening, my thoughts are we obviously need to rebuild this season so the majority of the players we sign we are not going to know a great deal about especially as we have dropped a division. The players we have signed: Devera, Smith and De Vita all seem sensible signings to me, Like you I have done the basic research on these players and they all come across as footballers who are well liked and have a hunger to do well and better themselves which is just what we need at this moment in time. Hopefully Comazzi will be coming to join us along with the couple of strikers mentioned and day by day now things are starting for me anyway to look a lot more positive.

I know these are rumours, but what is all this talk about Kevin Phillips about? they cannot be true.

The Phillips rumour keeps being mentioned along with fowler, I enjoy the speculation this time of the year and Normally I would laugh at these sort of names being linked with us but with Paolo in charge you never know.
No big name signings yet so at least it keeps the excitement levels on a high !

Phillips would NEVER drop this low when he could get similar offers from higher up. If i remember rightly huddersfield fans have been bandying about the same rumour for a couple of seasons, and even they admit he might not drop down to that level (and that's a far more attractive proposition than we are at the moment).

I'd say Robbie Fowler would be the more viable of the two, but still unlikely and maybe people are aiming just a little too high.

Does anyone know why Douglas still hasn't signed after all the positive sounds coming out of the club?

I think Dougie was from Holiday yesterday, would imagine he would of been in to see Di Canio already to let him know his decision one way or another.
I for one really want to see him playing for the town again this season, whether it's as captain will come down to if Paolo sees him as a leader.
Was hoping for news of new signings today but maybe the club will announce several including Douglas by the end of Monday. What date does the Italy tour start? Unlike last season hope we have the squad up together by then.

Well at least we now know Douglas is off to pastures new. Would of liked to see him in a town shirt again this season but having said that, would rather we have players who want to play for Paolo. Makes me appreciate the players who are staying even more now and hope they all get their chance this coming season.
