Harry Redknapp in court on tax evasion charges

The football manager Harry Redknapp is appearing in court to face trial for tax evasion.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss denies two counts of evading tax when he was manager of Portsmouth Football Club.
He appeared behind bulletproof glass at Southwark crown court to face charges alongside the former Portsmouth FC chairman Milan Mandaric.
The case centres on payments totalling £183,000 allegedly made by Mandaric to Redknapp.
The first charge alleges that, between 1 April 2002 and 28 November 2007, Mandaric paid £93,100 into a bank account held by Redknapp in Monaco, to avoid paying income tax and National Insurance.
The second charge for the same offence relates to a sum of £96,300 allegedly paid by Mandaric to the same account between 1 May 2004 and 28 November 2007.
A jury of eight men and four women has been sworn in and legal discussions are taking place.
Redknapp, 64, who recently underwent minor heart surgery to unblock his arteries, is the most successful English manager in the modern game, having led Portsmouth to FA Cup success and Spurs to last season's Uefa Champions League quarter-finals.
The trial is expected to last two weeks.
======================
Does winning an FA cup and leading your team to your /their first ever champions league quarter final equate to successful.If thats the case Benitez and Alex Mclish are also sucessfull managers.
Accountants should stick to what they are good at double entry and not football.

strange that the amount quoted there are roughly half of what all the other papers etc are saying too - all the others seem to agree it is £150k and £145k payments - totalling £295k
