But I find it hard to believe wenger's excuse that chamberlain's alleged illness is why he took him off.
I think he took off the teenager becos he felt he didn't have the experience, nerve and errr mental strength needed at such a critical time of the game.
It was probably when we began to boo that decision that he realised that he made a mistake but it was too late.
So he does what does best and lies to the fans.
And ontop of that he decided to be bullish and practically dares us to question his decision.
Wenger's lack of remorse only shows how much far up his own a$$ his head has gone.
Really really worrying times ahead for we gunners when our manager makes a blatant error that costs us the game, refuses to acknowledge his error or even apologise and to top it all off, tell us that he won't be buying any new player.
Tbh the most frightening part is that a lot of our fans are not sure if they want him to stay or go.
Seriously guys are we so devoid of confidence in ourselves that we don't think we can progress without wenger.
Dark days ahead.
Sorry...

yes, although i think booing your own team at 1-1 against utd is absolutely pathetic - i hope it does prove to be an important reminder to the board that we do need to bolster our squad and get rid of all of the below par passengers in the squad.

our home support is pathetic at the best of times though. Ironically that's the fault of the board for pricing out the common man, so it really says something that even this prawn sandwich brigade could create such an atmosphere. that substitution was surreal.

may i am being bias as i still respect and want wenger to stay at the club. the substitution was correct. just not the players who featured in it.
arshavin should never have come on - not in the form he has been in. you could aruge chamberlain should've have come off, but again, he does need protecting to some extent.

still, we could have lost if no substitution was made anyway. and I doubt the reaction of the crowd did any favours to the players on the pitch. Things aren't going well and when that happens people need someone to blame, manager is the one who is accountable so it's understandable to an extent. But it was worse at the beginning of the season and we came through it so the team just needs to carry on.

what's worrying is Wenger's justifications for the substitution. Sure, he's correct in saying that Arshavin is the Russian captain and Ox is a league debutant 18 y/o. But that doesn't tell the story at all. as you say, Arshavin has been dire, so what does it matter what he's doing with his international career. Wenger should be going on what he sees in front of him, and not irrelevant paper facts.
i'm loathe to criticise the boo-boys, because like I say, I don't pay to see this. and I'd imagine that what happened was a simmering of frustration at the lack of respect shown to them by people at AFC. and they vented it in the only way they could. If Wenger's a fall guy for the board, then he needs to speak out.

speak out and lose his job when he feels he can and has almost taken the club further even under financial constraints?
if this is the case, maybe he will do that at some point. he did make some hints about this potentially being a defining season in his career. maybe there will be some revelations in the summer.

I actually believe he'll step down in the summer. he's performed miracles in keeping us in the top 4 as well as helping the club out financially, and it's been a relatively thankless task for him. But every dog has it's day, and we're in need of some fresh ideas at Arsenal.
Picking the correct successor is not going to be easy.

i'd be more in favour of changing some of the back room staff. and of course, the board.

dread the idea of Gazidis choosing a successor if it comes to that.
