Firstly, good luck at Leicester. It would be good if you got a result first time round, but from a money point of view a draw and a replay would be better?
More importantly, the Tuesday night league game at Roots Hall feels like a six pointer to me. So far you have done the biz against us, so maybe it's our turn this time. Any of you coming down south for it?
6 Pointer?

Don,
You remember games like that! Probably more than our successes!
My nephew is a Chelsea fan, been to all sorts of big games, but he couldn't recall any of them.
I could still give you an account of how we got stuffed at Carlisle back in the 70's! And, my missus gave up watching football after I took her to Millwall! That was not clement weather - her shoes had to be binned!
But am going on Saturday, rain or shine!

Don - Not only did Mel Nurse get an og, but Eddie Firmani (2) and Bob Gilfillan also scored. Ken Skeen and Don Rogers replied for you guys.
Oh, the magic of Friday night matches at the Hall in those days. There was a declared gate of 9,552, which in time honoured Southend fashion was below the actual gate allegedly!! Maybe that is why HMRC pay so much attention to us now.
Ain't it scary that it seems like yesterday.

I'm the same, I often tell my lads about this game and that from way back and can remember silly little details but when they remind me about a game or player on loan etc from last season I more often than not haven't got a clue what they are talking about : ) not looking forward to the rush hour traffic on Tuesday night but hopefully it will be worth it.

Good luck with the traffic Notts, especially the M25.
Win, lose or draw, lets hope the football is good. I'll be wearing a blue Southend shirt in the West stand so keep your eyes open!!

Hmmmm, that would be as bad as our 'voltage cherry' away shirt, (pink to you and me), and yes I have got one. Bought for me by my kids, they like a wind up.

Yeah, that shirt is " different " just heard there is a chance of snow over the weekend and beyond so that could slow up the journey across even more

Roots - I remember Ken Skeen's goal well, first time volley from outside the area. Your lot seemed to be scoring every 5 minutes. Don actually got my mate and I our tickets for the game. In the second half I think he played you on his own, setting up a number of chances which his team mates contrived to miss in all sorts of ways. Eventually he decided to go it alone and got a solo goal!
It took about 2 days to get back home.

Don, have you ever thought about putting some of your memories down on paper. My wife bought me a book from the club shop with lots of little snippets of facts and trivia about Swindon over the years and your stories/ memories are just as interesting.

Notts - you're most kind, I'm very flattered. I'll give it some thought. Not sure I can be the Nick Hornby of STFC though!
