Steve McClaren??

Took Boro to a European final. First Englishman to win a top European league for 25 years or maybe longer. To me you can't do that if your not a decent manager.

Didnt southgate spend £15m on that alves or whatever his name was? And he was pants. They were a decent side when SM left. They went down because the chiarman wouldn't sack southgate

Mclaren was the wrong man at the wrong time IMO. He alienated himself from everybody from the word go. Look at his pompous attitude when we went to Vicarage Road.

I'd say he's a better manager than Cotterill but definitely wasn't right for Forest. We had a good manager at this level before McLaren but unfortunately he was an annoying little moaner who talked himself out of a job. Perhaps a better Chairman would have seen through his annoyingness and let him get on with it. We'll never know.

I can't believe that nayone has a good word to say about McLaren. He did more damage to the club in a few months than even Platrt managed and his legacy of duff signings on stupid contracts will be with us for years. He also managed to demoralise and demolish a near complete promotion contending team. He was uesless at Boro (the chairman Steve Gibson kept pulling millions out of the hat to bail out his failed signings until the burk finally got it right for about half a season): then he cocked up England, fluked Holland and cocked up Germany. He might look good in the Dutch league but I'm so glad he's there and much prefer Cotterill faults and all. If Cotterill had inherited a team near the top of the division, with a committed chariman and a few million to spend on an already settled squad, I'm sure he'd have been fine. We'll never know but the only good thing McLaren did was jump ship and had he have stayed we'd have lynched the idiot by now.
