Important Announcement?

The official website has published a statement from John Ryan informing us all that four directors, including Dyk watson, have today resigned their positions.
What now?

As fans, we are subject to the mushroom method when it comes to information, and i suppose, rightly so some may say.
I wouldnt want all and and sundry to know what goes on behind the scenes in my business.
But, the doubts now set in.
I hope McKay is invited in as a new investor because this would fit more into line with making sure his plan works, there is nothing like having money in the business if you are trying to make things work as you want them to.
I just hope this isnt the start of an out of control downward spiral.

Is it possible for those of you who listen to Football Heaven to post what was said for those of us outside the UK who cannot pick up the programme?

I was under the impression from what I was told the 125 year lease for the Stadium was already for signing at the end of the season. Maybe DW was in favour of a buy out which the Council were not, and therefore he saw no future for him and his family at the club.

It was reported some time ago that Terry Bramall had lost interest and was putting his money into the Arts and Ballet which were more his cup of tea.

Maybe there have been arguements behind the scenes which we know nothing about and which have forced the issue. If DW is ill then he could have left his money in and let son Andrew and daughter Sarah operate his proxy.

There seems to be a lot more behind this than meets the eye. On vsc, someone says that Willie McKay has already spoken to possible Arab investors about buying the club. it may well be that WS has contacts and that he was bringing in new investors, we shall just have to wait and see!!!

As an agent Hound, Willie McKay is forbidden to have a monetry or Directorship role in ANY football club.

I am sure he will not be giving up his lucrative business to take over a club which is known to be losing money each year. If he does then he is not the businessman I thought he was.

No, but his wife could be a director couldnt she.

Anyone other than him, Hound. So long as they are a fit and proper person, ask Alex about that one!!!!

Worrying stuff.

On Watson, I take it at face-value, he's reducing his involvement for health reasons. I hope that taking a less active role at the Rovers has the desired effect and his health improves.

Bramall is no surprise. The other two, I don't know.

Regarding money, I don't think there are any loans to be repaid. They bought up extra shares issued by the club so are owed nothing. The question is whether they are looking to sell their shares and whther they are prepared to keep putting money in .

In Bramall's case I think we know that he is not putting any more money in. Is he selling? I'd say probably but a buyer is needed first. We'll hopefully no more later.

The question will be around funding the deficit - on an ongoing basis we make a loss which has been funded to date via the investment of additional capital by the owners - I don't think that JR can afford to fund DRFC on his own so we either need to find new investors or cut our cloth accordingly - this is undoubtedly the background to the WM experiment but whether DW was expecting to pull out at that stage, we don't know.
One thing I would hope is that this has all been prepared for in an orderly fashion - resignations don't just happen - an exit plan will have been put in place (hopefully). Maybe we'll learn more this evening.
Finally, as a fan - a big thank you to Terry Bramall for his investment in the club and particularly to Mr Watson, who I think is also a genuine fan......I echo others' thoughts on here in wishing him a speedy recovery.
To JR - thanks again to a great Chairman - I hope you haven't been left in the lurch and that you get the support you need asap.

What a season this is turning out to be, don't know what to think. On one hand I'm thinking doom and gloom, for example, wrong end of table, best established players possibly leaving, new players being brought in not as good/fit as they should be, board members leaving, dean saunders to prove him self, referees having a conspiacy to send us down, low attendances etc. Then on the other John Ryan & willie mckay have a cunning plan!!
I love the rovers and the league we play in and will be completely gutted if we go down, but for some reason in John Ryan I trust, so let's continue all the support we can give and fingers crossed we can pull this off. Who knows this might be the start of something new!! R.T.I.D.

For all the ex-pats and those unable to listen to Football Heaven - I was wrong - this wasn't a well planned exit. JR says that he came back from Barnados last Tuesday to find 4 resignations on his desk. He clearly has nothing but respect for DW, who he says has done everything he can and can't help being ill. However, it appears that DW may still provide some financial support even though he has stepped down from the board. JR hasn't spoken to Terry Bramall at all. The other 2 directors to resign are DW's children, who aren't big investors in the club.
JR is still working through the implications of the resignations but he is very unhappy with the very vocal small minority who criticise everything that the board does and finds this very wearing. He denies that this is the reason for DW's resignation but could have been a contributing factor in other resignations. He states that he is the last man standing again and you can tell that he feels the responsibility on his shoulders, but he will be in Doncaster tomorrow to start the process of sorting out the aftermath. He indicates that there are no other investors on the horizon.
I've not heard JR like this before. He sounds down but stoical. He wants the vocal minority that criticise everything to either support or shut up - and he wants the genuine fans of Doncaster Rovers to rally around and support him, the Manager and the players. This isn't a plea for financial support (although I am sure any additional revenue would be welcome) but more a plea for moral support - he needs to feel that the fans are with him. I think we all need to support JR right now. It sounds as if he has never needed our support more than he does now and in the coming months.

Thank you Crazy. I understand that DW has a heart problem, so hopefully he will get well soon.

I also understand that Mr Blunt, the new owner of Keepmoat Ltd is giving the club his full backing and he is very much a Supporter/ Director.

As you say, everyone should now get behind the club and JR to keep the push for Championship survival the main focus.
