Forest fans today said that getting hoofball master Steve Cotterill out of the club is still in their thoughts – but challenged the manager to improve his win return.

Cotterill has recently been a peripheral figure for Nottingham Forest, not beating a single team other than ipswich since the 1st of november or doing anything that can be even remotely construed as "useful".

The former Portsmouth manager remains an unpopular figure with the City Ground supporters.

But he was not even good enough to deserve to sit on the bench at West Ham last weekend.

And Forest fans want to see the manager improve just about everything if he wants to earn thier respect.

"He is in our thoughts, sadly he is part of the club. But we have to look at things and ask 'what is the end product?'," said a Forest fan.

"That is not just with him, it applies to everyone. When we watch such dreadful performances, devoid of everything, and a manager doing a worse job than Gary Megson - you ask certain questions.

"How many goals do they score? And we need goals at the minute."

Lewis McGugan had been going through a dip in form of his own, but Cotterill intimated that he – and one or two others – may have hung on to their places because despite being awful for the entire season, and contributing less than a beer mat in the main stand bar, they may have scored a goal at some point a year ago.

McGugan in particular responded with an outstanding strike – and a much-improved performance – at Upton Park. This isnt hard though, a traffic cone thats been run over by a truck wouldve been more use in recent games

"We look around at the manager and there might be somebody who has not done well ever in thier career," said a Forest fan. "But his past record might suggest that he doesnt have it in him to get a side to nick a goal, he is fond of hoofball, he likes to pick favourites and the same team even if it did get thrashed the week before. He also lacks any kind of idea's or plan"

"So it is about having a look at the end product. We can play nice football, but we dont - it is goals that count but we dont score them"

"His (Cotterills) record says that he does not win alot of games. Winning games, scoring goals and assists are important, there is a lot in that."

Cotterill has won 5 games this season, all 5 in the Championship overall, amid 16 league games and 2 cup appearances.'”

Were you at the Southampton game?

That's was the worst. We played a bit more of a passing style when he first came in. But that's before he had time to put his stamp on the team.

Cotterills a long ball manager. Cotterball I believe Burnley fans used to call it.

We tend to use hoofball as plan B...right after plan A's sidewards passing fails to get us within 30 yards of goal.

If only BC could see the garbage that's served up now.

I disagree...... We have been playing some good flowing football. . . . Leeds, Leicester and Southampton were dreadful matches. Hoof can sometimes work....

but what?

Name me, other games where we didn't then other than Leicester, Leeds and Southampton. In fact, the first 10 mins against Southampton wasn't that bad.

I'm not saying we've been awsome. We have been playing some good football. The problem has been scoring and at times commitment when we've gone behind. The football has not been dire all the time.

Have you seen as well though that Majewski is our 5th highest goal scorer this year!

Part of the problem is his tactics and not changing and making a substituition 10 minutes after half time [at Cardiff] before they took the initiative. The other is injuries to key players.

The other problem is lots of players being out of contract. We don't know what's going on. Have new contracts been offered at less money, are players refusing to sign? If the club hasn't opened negotiations that may have effected the dressing room .
