Appealing

Have you noticed that captains instinctively know (most of the time) if the someone is LBW?

Most of the time, thanks to DRS, Strauss and Misbah don't call for a review because they are sure the review would be wasted. This way we don't get too much in the way of histrionics from the bowler and close in fielders.

The players usually know if a ball is going down leg or over the stumps or pitched outside the line etc.

So why do we still get some ridiculous appealing?

Is it to put the umpires under pressure hoping that they make a mistake?

Look at the India vs Australia series. No DRS and some quite ridiculous and sustained appealing going on. I mean, there was even a claim for obstructing a throw!

How desperate and ridiculous can you get?

to be fair, most teams are guilty of it.... Broad was excessive in the first innings and last game, adnan akmal runs his mouth off too, indians and lankans also vocal.

Can you imagine how loud it would be if all 3 Akmals played?
