Posted on the Arsenal Board today..........................by What would Stuart Pearce do?
IMO it would be better to avoid the Europa League altogether, or when (not if) we do play in it, our new manager plays the u18s in it.
So it is letting London & the PL down when Spurs failed to get past the group stages, due to playing fringe players but when Arsenal do it next season, then it is fine!!
Smacks of hypocrisy to me!!
Hypocrisy!

Dropping into the EL is a punishment not a reward.

Scrap the Europa League entirely, just have more English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portugese and Dutch teams entering the champions League which would revert to an unseeded knockout competition.
This wont happen as the usual suspects - Bayern, Real, Barca, Milan, Inter, Utd etc want to keep the Champs League as a nice cosy club for the old aristos of course.

If it's a punishment that why doesn't the team that finishes 4th go into it?
Surely punishment is being eliminated altogether, not being put into a fallback option i.e Europa?

should make the champs league pure knockout.
or keep the groups and get rid of seedings

Revert to pre CL UEFA tournaments.
The true test of a club (which is why I have so much respect for the 80s Pooool on that front) .
Last 32.
Seeding/qualifiers as necessary to let the lesser clubs fight their way to the final 32.
Would also kill the money "arms race" that the CL has caused, as a beneficial side-effect.

Bubbles - Because both City and United are both in the EL, City have to play their games at 5.00pm on Wednesday nights because of UEFA coefficents - Carp for the fans.

But City and United are big clubs who should really be in the CL, for other clubs its entirely different. Most clubs would chop off an arm and a leg to be in any kind of European competition.

The fact is neither of us were good enough to qualify for the next stage of the CL this season and we should be out of Europe completely not padding out the EL in an attempt to boost TV figures..
