From my Watford mate:
Marvin Sordell, very fast, good at holding up the ball, excellent left foot and when given the time(that is typically not available in the Championship), will score goals. Had several brilliant England U21 performances, and whilst it is always a leap, to go from Champ to Premier, he believes for £3m we have an absolute bargain.

I am sure it is a bargain at 3m, but he is one for the future.

20 years old is the key.
Got the attributes to be a very good player. Will obviosuly be a bit rough around the edges at the moment, but we have a manager who has a track record of fine tuning excellent talent.

WhiteBic, I would have thought the same thing but that is with me not knowing anything about the Championship (I'm guessing you're in the same boat?).
After watching the FA Cup highlights show at the weekend though one of the pundits on there said after a game between a Championship and Premiership (can't remember which one) that the Championship team got a lot more time on the ball than they were used to and didn't really know what to do with it. So it would appear you do get more time on the ball in the Prem for whatever reason.
In regards to the signing though, I think it's a brilliant bargain as well and can't wait to see the lad in action. Doesn't it feel nice to finally be the team that's talked about as signing the exciting prospect and pulling off the surprise of deadline day after years of enviously watching on as other teams better us?

On the 'time on the ball' issue my Watford mate thought the Champ was more rushed and less cultured than the Prem.
He did remind me that they also sold us Danny Shittu for £3m.....and that's when the conversation kinda faltered!

You can't rush in the Prem, like you can in Div 1. Due to the higher skill level.

I did wonder if the Zaha bid was smoke-screen to mask the Sordell deal. If it was it worked brilliantly and we slipped in under EVERYONE'S radar!
