This defence is actually not bad, if we had this defence in 2007/08 season we would have won the league maybe even the champions league.
However Wenger took too long to sort out the defence and now a lot of our good players have gone, I mean since that season we have lost:
Fabregas
Gilberto
Flamini
Adebayor
Eduardo
Nasri
Helb
Toure
Gallas
Clichy
If Wenger had done more to strengthen back then we would have not been in this mess. People keep talking about how we can't compete with Man city/Chelsea/ United etc however we had those players and if Wenger had shown more ambition besides a top 4 finish they would have stayed with us and we would have won a trophy.

Why wouldn't Puyol, Thiago or Vidic move to Arsenal in their current state? Are you really asking that question?
History has nothing to do with it: Wolves and Notts Forest have got a nice history, but its money and CL football that talks nowadays...and Arsenal arent looking likely to offer either next season...or for a few years to come at this rate.

Arsenal can offer the money, they have the money, Chelsea and Man city couldnt guarantee CL either at the beginning yet very good players still came to them.
It is not about the players not wanting to come to Arsenal it is about the Board/Wenger not wanting them.

No no no RVP20.....players came to Chelsea and Man City cos they were clearly clubs on the up who could buy whole teams of new players and wer about to start challenging for silverware.

It is you who doesnt understand what I am saying and what my original post was about.
Arsenal HAVE the money they CAN be on the "up", they just choose a different method that the board/Wenger think will get them there mainly buying young player and selling experience.
If Arsenal choose to splash the cash make no mistake lots of good players will come.
