There was a story years ago that a sober Ferguson cash incentivised Kanchelskis and Giggs to each swing in fourteen crosses every match.
It worked!
There is a moment in our build up play when players turn down the opportunity to get the ball into the box. They stop and lay it off and often the ball will head all the way back to Reina.
If Andy Carroll was to receive 28 half decent crosses from a combination of Downing, Gerrard, Bellamy and Johnson in a game he would be looking at hat tricks.
And third place would be guaranteed!
The Andy Carroll Incentive!

Well 28 crosses doesn't guarantee hat-tricks at all.
The biggest question is whether Carroll is supported in the box or not, if not he will well marked and the majority of those crosses will be swallowed up by the defence, but if he has support coming from the likes of Suarez, Gerrard or even someone like Shelvey/Henderson, who can arrive late into the box, then he may find some extra room and could latch onto a few, and if not then the cross may find another one of our players.
It really is a case of giving Carroll support so it doesn't become predictable, and delivering quality crosses, not just any old kind of delivery.

If Carroll can continue the hold up play, flick ons and linking up play the way he has in the last two games then Suarez should thrive off it with his movement off the ball.
I'm getting excited about what we can do in final third if Carroll can start to dominate the opposition centre backs, he's finally jumping better to win a flick on and is getting infront of his marker quicker to hold up the ball, I really think Suarez will enjoy playing off him.
