Hamilton's crashing and over the top style have done well to hide an even harsher truth about him - He is mentally weak and very vulnerable to pressure. So you could say all his crashes have been a blessing in disguise because no one will ever call someone who is so aggressive mentally weak. No one will ever call such an aggressive driver a choker. A lot of deluded people actually think that Hamilton's crashes show that he is made of tough stuff LOL.
Don't forget that Hamilton has had three title chances - 2007, 2008 and 2011 - and has only taken one of those chances. Also even when he did win the title in 2008, he nearly choked it away.
Perhaps his crashes show that he isn't tough enough to keep his composure and isn't tough enough to focus and not let emotions take over him at the start of races.

I've never considered Lewis as aggressive. Just because he doesn't move and the other drivers do doesn't mean he's aggressive. It actually shows how mentally strong he is not to move. As for crashes, he has made a few wrong decisions in the last races that are so apparent precisely because he has been so brilliant in his F1 career to date. What he does have trouble with mentally is believing he can't win which is the case now because the Red Bull is so good. He's not like Alonso who will accept second to get the points in the hope that the luck/things will go his way by the end of the season.
