FA set to remove captaincy from JT

FA chairman David Bernstein has spoken to board members and the majority view is Terry should be stood down. He would still be available for selection for the national team.

Slightly positive news here but if I was Fabio I wouldn't take him to the nationals at all, let alone just remove him as captain.

The guy is a and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near the dressing room

I stand by that comment, A racist hates people of a certain Race, hence the word Racist, the Klan are Racists as are the White supremacists, the Black Panthers (Apparently they have a huge underground following across the U.S.), are you suggesting that, I will assume Terry to be guilty for the purpose of this debate, as you all seem to have done, Terry is no different.
Do we not differentiate between someone who insults a guy of mixed race in the heat of a football match, with someone who wants to string up people due to the colour of their skin

-------------------------------

If he is found guilty of it then yes hes a racist and always will be regardless whether he is more or less extreme than another racist person. The fact is he is a role model and even in the heat of a football match there is no need to comment on someones race ever!! He could say many insults without having to mention race. The fact many of his team mates are black as well is extremely disrespectful towards them as well. A racist comment said in whatever context is still a racist comment.

Rockney Rules

Agreed it is an awful side of the human race, having spent a bit of time in South Africa in the early 80's I expreienced it UC & P usually used by people who are looking for someone else to blame for their own shortcomings, believe me the differing levels of racism are worlds apart, and in an ideal world, yes it would be totally eradicated, but we dont live in an ideal world do we.

So then, if Terry is found guilty of making a racist comment what should the punnishment be ??

Re Harrys Mr Thicky comment, I also believe you will stay above us and the rest for the remainder of the season, but also feel you could win the title, you are playing better football than anyone else in the league, and have gone on record to say as much, my comment was how do you feel having a compulsive liar/complete idiot as manager

Gaz man

I know he could have said many other things, so does he, and if it is proved he did this, they will look to see if he has previous, to my knowledge he doesnt.

So he was a racist all his life and hid it well, or he has just become one, despite spending his adult life working with people of differing colours

Well regardless of whether he 'hid' his racist traits or not is irrelevant. The fact is if he is proved to have said something deemed racist then he is a racist. Theres no quarms about it. Even if he never says another racist comment again it will be very hard for people to forget this - especially Anton Ferdinand.

So you dont believe that to err is human to forgive is devine I take it.
Terry will need punishment, no doubt, but should it be greater than that of Roy Keane for his challenge on Alf Inge Haaland, or that of Rio Ferdinand who allegedly deliberately avoided a drug test as he feared he was bang to rights

Please dont think I am patronising you, I honestly am not, but have a read of Nelson Mandella's book "Log walk to freedom" it gives you an insight into a wonderful human being who changed the way people thought, not by castigating, and isolating them, that just perpetuates the problem, but by including and educating them.

Well if we're gonna be consistent Sandsend I'd say his punishment should mirror Suarez' plus have the England captaincy permanently removed. Re the Innocent until proven guilty argument; The England captaincy is a high profile national position. We've just seen Chris Huhne have to step down from his cabinet position because he's being charged with an offence so I guess you've got to view it in similar terms although obviously one is sporting and one is political, there is still the shared element of representation of the country.

Fair comment Rockney, that is a good point

But having watched JT since he came into the side as a kid, I have watched him go from Gangly teenager to (Yeah go on Gangly adult) a world class defender, (6 years on the trot in the European team of the year as voted by football managers, before the insults start), I have watched him schooled by Marcel D, Great footballer but an absolute wanchor of a man, and watched as he matured into the captain and leader of our club.
I have been fortunate enough to have met Terry (along with the whole squad during the click sargeant charity campaign whilst working at the DCMS), and found him to be a real down to earth bloke (Yes I know he has been a prize idiot at times), but like most footballers he is a young man, and young men can be complete a holes to begin with, chuck in a ton of adulation and they can get it horribly wrong, and in this day and age where everyone has a camera in their pocket, step out of line in public and you are dead in the water, but I dont think, if they are honest, there is a football fan out there who would not have wanted him chucking himself in front of everything thrown his way, due to the badge on his shirt, at their club.

He has never once been accused of posessing this vile trait, which were it a part of his make-up would surely have surfaced before now, God knows he has had enough press intrusion into his life

Not convinced Sandsend but some fair points there. We'll just have to wait and see...

It's tribal rivalry mate, we all have it, it's part of being a football fan, I hated Roy Keane when he was ripping everything up at United, I now understand it was just jealousy.

We are all cut from the same cloth mate, we only differ geographically
