Clark refuses to rule himself out

Given the chance to rule himself out of the Leeds job this morning, Clark refused.

Question: Would you rule yourself out of the running for the (Leeds) job?

LC: It's just speculation. Until I am told otherwise I am the manager of Huddersfield Town.

This is very similar to the Leicester City scenario where he kept his options open for a week or so and then suddenly 'ruled himself out' just before they appointed Pearson - i.e. when his agent told him they didn't want him.

If rumours are correct that he is Bates preferred choice then I reckon there's a very good chance he'll go - he knows that promotion is a 50:50 at best and if we don't go up then the likelyhood is he'll be sacked and his reputation well and truly dented.

mirf..
if you notice these things..i do try to post my thoughts before the actual games..its not hindsight.. i havent jumped on any anti clark bandwagon.. he was never right, his tactics aligned with the money he has been allowed and the personnel he has been able to bring in have by default, in a poor league, enabled us to only lose a couple of games.. but a large number of the draws have been totally unacceptable from the performance point of view and from a results point of view.. drawing whilst your nearest competition win is virtually useless given there are 3 points for a win.. "sticking around" the top 6 and "hopefully being in the shake up" at the end of the season is what stevenage are trying to do and bournemouth(now they have lost half their bloody team), if thats our main "aim" then you and I and hoyle are being sold very short by a manage and his his staff..
Aim high, then if you miss it might not be by much..

barca..
p clark ran the team once they crossed the white line.. he pulled the team backwards, lee to his credit did try and get them to move up, he had less influence than p clark, thats all.. your not managing the team, someone else is to suit his own shortcomings..
I have no idea what happened at tranmere without p clark.. we just didnt do anything much anywhere on the park. I dont think have john terry and rio at the back would have made much difference, nobody framed.. we didnt defend well, we didnt create or tackle very much in midfield and we never got enough players forward to bother them very much.. maybe that one is probably a game to totally forget ever happened???

The thread isn't about whether LC is a good manager or not - its about whether he is positioning himself for the Leeds job - which he clearly is - and which he clearly did for the Leicester job.

Please, please Lee, don't be so patronising this time and announce you are "not interested in the Leeds job and are fully committed to Huddersfield Town" when you find out that Ken doesn't want you after all.

I'm still unclear as to why having brought in dozens of players over 3 years, and released many of them , that we can still put in performances like Tranmere. I know every team has an off day, but Towns level of perfromance never rises much above slightly above average for divison 3.

I accept LC has raised us to a regular 3rd/4th placed side..but to me that isn't good enough, whatever statistics you throw at me. I thought , with the time and money he's had that we'd p1$$ this league by a country mile..and yet we still haven't got a settled side, settled style of play and can't win enough games from draws.

Something is wrong somewhere, and in my opinion it's LC who is trying to do too many fancy things instead of concentrating on the task in hand.

If he talks to the players like he talks to the press...well maybe there is the clue to it.

What this silly story proves is that nearly everything you read about football is total guff. Clark and Bates have a real dislike for each other and would never work together.

I actually think Clark is a very good manager, he spots what's wrong with a team very quickly. On Saturday there was lots wrong but by far the biggest problem was Novak, he simply could not do what he was asked to do. Playing 2 wingers is very difficult because it will always leave you short against a team playing 1 up and the answer is hard to find. Hopefully the signing of a "number 10" is that answer.

It's easy to pick faults, i do it most weeks, but i hear very few people who come up with sensible answers. In fact i hear some truely ridiculous suggestions. I don't like Lee Clark but he knows alot more about football than anyone on here. Just wish he realised he doesn't know more about Huddersfield Town. Sulking and stomping around with an attitude is not how we do it here.

Boo - You think Clark is very good manager, I dont, And never in a million years does Novak have the brains or skills to play in the number "10" role, I know that, Why the hell does he not ? Just because you have played and recieved coaching tuition/FA brainwashing does not make you a good manager, Maybe a coach who follows current guidelines/principles, Maybe a poor coach, Maybe a good coach, But definatley not a good manager, That is something that comes naturally or should, It defo is not a natural for Clark, Not with his personallity anyway.

I think as i have done for a long time, that we are very close to getting it right..Problem is, that makes it worse when we dont get there..
I think with money and resources virtually anyone can get a modicum of success in football, its the extra bit that the better managers get, with money and without it..
