East Mids Derby

Putting aside all the banter and jokes, where do you all rate our 'derby' game with some of the others around the country?

Ive always thought that this game has never really recieved the attention it deserves - theres always usually early goals, red cards, penalties, high scoring games, contraversy etc

So compared with the Manchester derby, north london derby, anglian derby, merseyside derby and all the others that are played......where does our game stand?

thoughts...

Apologies for "don't have no", I moved some of the text about before publishing and this monstrosity made it through the net.

#1 for me

-It's the "Clough" factor

-It's the the fact that so many players and coaches have traded sidelines over the years

-It's the contrast between a club with a big
history and one that is the envious neighbor.

-It's the fact that it ISN'T a "Big" derby as defined by the media but still means everything to fans and players of both clubs.

IT IS FOREST vs. DERBY! and there is nothing else like it in my opinion.

Agreed TTiT, apart from the 2nd point - we have been relatively sucessful in English football.

Another key factor is the shifts in power. One minute Derby are in the prem, Forest are in League 1, then both in the championship with Forest the stronger and Derby fighting for survival, now Derby playing decent football and in a safe position with Forest languishing.

Not many rivalries switch the 'big' club so frequently.

This is the biggest 1 for me......although Alfreton v Mansfield next month is a big un for us from Alfreton... Being from Alfreton makes the Derby - Forest games bigger...
I went to AC v Inter a few years ago and that was a massive occasion but I probably enjoyed it more being a neutral.

Why is it that when a Forest fan speaks of history, they can barely get the word out of their mouths, without a Derby fan getting defensive over their "illustrious" past? It happens every time without fail.
