None of us get to carried away with trial form unless our individual teams wins of course, then it is an inspiration for the year ahead.
The NRL had an interesting result for it's first trial game of the season with Cronulla belting Manly (2011 premiers) 38-6..yes it's just a trial says the Manly contingent, we know.
What would be alarming for the new Manly coach Geoff Toovey is the fact both teams were at near full strength for the second half when it was 16-6 after 40minutes which leaves Toovey & Manly with a 22 point 4 tries to nil second 40 which wouldn't be getting the supporters excited about having to face Leeds in their one and only hit-out before the season proper.
Manly have got too good of a side not to make the final 8 but with a fair share of injuries they could find it hard because the reserves are pretty thin and the 2 lower grades running last in 2011 doesn't help them one at all....cheers and good luck to your team this season...

On a side note to trials i would like to see trials take place in areas where there are not NRL clubs to underpin and promote the game in these areas.

Most trials are taken to country regions B.F which is a good thing for those local league loving communities...Out of app. 20 trial games 15 would be played afar...cheers
