shud giggs get an extension on his contract

To summarise, Giggs and Scholes to retire for good at the end of this season, a player from the reserve side like Pogba or maybe Tunnicliffe to be promoted to the first team next season and/or at least one quality midfielder to be brought in during the summer.

Don't get me wrong, I still believe that it's vital that Scholes and Giggs remain at the club in some capacity, hopefully coaching. Scholes I'm sure will go back to his reserve team coach role next season and hopefully Giggs will get involved as well in some shape or form.

Keep Giggs and Scholes for domestic cup games only.

A nice rest for the pair for the remainder of the season, then. <hint>

I believe Giggs and Scholes have earned the right to retire when they choose. Scholes though he was finished, had 6 months off, came back and he's played his best football the last 3 seasons. I think we should treat it as if they aren't there, and progress with youth and such, but having one of them on the bench won't hurt us at all next season.

Besides, with everyone fit, they wouldn't make the bench even any more.

I wouldn't mind as much if Giggs was used as sparingly as what is being suggested. It's the fact that he's played 90 minutes at St James', the Etihad and the Emirates to name a few this season. And as much as the pundits and commentators like to witter on about how it's incredible that he still plays this regularly, he's actually been very, very poor. I agree that it's paramount that both Scholes and Giggs remain at the club in some regard. They're great role models for the youth.

Ryan Giggs has been a great servant to this club and very few people are as fond of him as I am but he needs to retire, same with Paul Scholes.

We have to move on as a club and unfortunately this guys will not be part of the team on the pitch.

So let the legends retire. They can take up coaching roles at the club.

he should have been gone 3 yrs ago. the fear fergie is displaying in letting these old timers go is concerning. fergie played keano till 6 months to his retirement were he could not keep up in scotland. he played neville till they literally laughing at how woeful he was in the west brom game. he is waiting too long, it is holding back the team.

i have no proof of it but i am pretty sure giggs and scholes are a reason why we lost ravel and most likely will struggle to keep pogba. Any one who watches our reserves knows that our midfield at that level is packed with potential unmatched by any in the league. fergie, the famed developer of youth players, has been unable to develop any of the higher level players, just the squad level types why?

yet with all this experience, the position constantly complained about is that midfield. the one which unlike the other positions on the team he has constantly kept changing. there are no 37,38 yr olds in defence, wings or striker because of their experience. guess what? these are our strongest positions.

we should know what anderson is by now. tbh if this were arsenal, we would know what ravel, tunnicliffe, pogba are by now. every yr scholes and giggs stay on, every yr we keep delaying the development of the team. necessity is the mother of invention. their absence will force fergie to do something, either buy new players or promote from the reserves. either way we will finally complete this rebuilding we have been hearing about all this while. for a second i thought it was going to be this yr with out young line up. i am not so sure anymore

loyalty and an overrating of experience is fergies problem in that midfield right now. he seems to have forgotten how it goes. hope he remembers before its too late.
