Having watched it a few times now I think Howard was quite unlucky with the goal today. However this is more of a complaint about his general play really. I've often thought he almost doesn't look like a natural goalkeeper. He's a fantastic shot-stopper but his handling is, at times, woeful. He seems to be flapping more and more at crosses and he's been very lucky it hasn't cost us too much so far. His kicking, for me, has always been dreadful too. It's like a kid at school booting it as high as he possibly can. If you look at the best keepers in the prem, in terms of distribution, Robinson and Reina, they both kick the ball long but flat. This gives the strikers so much more of an opporunity to either get a flick on or bring it down on their chest. Maybe I'm being harsh on the guy...he's been a great signing. There's just a lot of really obvious and simple things he could do to improve his game so greatly.

You are too harsh. Both Keepers you mention have difficulty with crosses and prefer to punch rather than catch ; a trait prevalent amongst Foreign Keepers i am afraid.
