Jesus, what is it with centres these days!
Though I must admit I'm slightly disappointed that he didn't fight a kangaroo for the title

I'd like to see fight a proper HW, and get smacked....
I just can't bring myself to like the guy.

The reality is SBW is an average boxer who only fights guys that he has a good chance beating. Mainly because he's the most marketable person in NZ haha. The fight was a pay-per-view on Sky TV for NZ$40 which is about £20 and it only lasted 2mins!
So don't read much into it especially when there's a dozen kiwi boxers who could knock him out

Hold up for a second.
I dont know much about SBW outside of his rugby career.
But i posted this article because it is very interesting. I watched the highlights of the knock-out also and yes i can confirm that SBW is not the best boxer on the planet, rather unskilled in fact, but i dont think he is advertising himself as that either.
This is interesting for me on the level of athletic achievement and quite incredible given what his 'day job' is that he can compete at this level.
Having seen him being interviewed, and coming across as a genuine decent bloke i find it really strange that there is so much 'begrudgery' and dislike is aimed at him. By his own countrymen no less!
Frankly if Ireland had a rugby player, who was also a pro boxer and winning things (regardless of what) the whole country would be behind him. Thats someone to be proud of, someone who represents New Zealand in a fantastic way.
Go to youtube and see the fight highlights, he's not a very good boxer granted, but hes a hell of a bloke for doing it. You should be proud.

Don't get me wrong, as a Kiwi, I am proud of Sonny Bill on the rugby field, and I was a huge fan of his when he was playing league. I mean he's even from my suburb in Auckland, and he went to school just down the road from where I live. I actually saw him just before the world cup last year in my neighbourhood and i was quite starstruck haha
I agree he's a hell of a bloke for taking up boxing. Not too many sportsman could do it, if any, considering he's in the prime of his rugby career..
In saying that, I personally don't have much time for his boxing, as it's usually over-hyped by the media and I reckon he's doing it more as a business venture than anything else. And yes i've seen the highlights, I think he's getting better and I was glad he beat that arrogant last night.
Anyway, I'd like to see him fight some decent opponents and maybe then I'll take a little more interest in his boxing career.
Btw, what interview are you referring to?

Kiwi, search youtube for the build up to that fight. SBW says that he is kinda scared, not wanting to embarrass himself, and if he loses he will be embarrassed ect ect.
I just think thats pretty humble and i respect him for that.
anyway, Is he new to boxing? maybe in the future he will get better, not that i would give up rugby if i were him but thats his choice i guess.
To be fair, i don't begrudge him doing what ever he wants t make money. if thats boxing then so be it. fact is if you intentionally allow people to smash u in the face for a living and for the entertainment of the populace then u deserve to get paid for it.

Jono, I just see him as a self publicist, and the way he messed around the teams he was contracted to when he swapped codes still sticks in my throat.
No doubt he has great ruby ability, but I grew up in NZ at a time of some of the great All Blacks like Bernie Fraser, Graham Mourie, Sean Fitzpatrick and John Kirwan.
I can't imagine any of those guys acting like him.
