thank god capello is finally gone!

i had hoped for a miracle that he will leave before the Euro and it happened! he showed no passion, no drive or motivation, god knows how he gave any motivational speeches to the players?

now the FA need to appoint a manager who is not afraid to make wide spread changes, out with the old and in with the new, lets see which players stuart pearce picks in the friendly against holland, it could be as good a candidate any depending on the result

now we never expected or still dnt expect to win the Euro but at least hopefully we can put on a better good show than without capello as manager

Well, I am not happy he left. With him England was not a contender, now they might be. And that slims our chances of winning euro 2012

The sad thing is we all hated him and he had the best win percentage of any England manager.

and it doesnt matter who the next manager will be, even if it is Redknapp, the media will build him up and then leak some scandal and turn him into public enemy # 1. I hope for Redknapps sake that he stays with Spurs.

How is the position the national team is in now better than than the position we were in a couple of months ago say?, we don't have a manager or a captain and the euros are 4 months away, everyone banging on about the manger has to be english, what if Redknapp turns the job down? some people have seriously been championing the likes of Bryan Robson, Curbishley, Holloway & Beckham non of them are better coaches than Capello, this is an absolute mess, how anyone can be happy about this is beyond me, and i thought all the talk has been about the players not being good enough? how is a 2nd (or even 3rd) rate manager going to lead the same team to glory?

I'm over the moon he's gone, being very English I want an "English" manager not some Italian who only cares about his 6 million quid a year salary.

From now on English managers only please !!!!

CP, yeah, let's revive the glory days of McLaren, Keegan and Taylor!

I don't care what the nationality of the manager is. If African countries with better players than us are not to proud to import some coaching know-how, I don't see why we should. Maybe if we spend the next 10-20 years training world class coaches that won't be necessary, but the fact is, at the moment we lag behind our European in terms of the quantity and quality of coaches we produce.

Capello has done no better but had cost a lot more !

Dreadful at last world cup he was utterly clueless as England manager. No passion nothing, just collecting his salary.

Redknapp is the best Englishman for the job but not the best candidate for the job.
I wouldn't mind going for a continental manager again, don't care if not English as long as they make us competetive.
Gus Hiddink would do for me, as long as we stay away from dinosaur tactics that Someone like Stuart Pearce would bring.

'Capello has done no better but had cost a lot more!'

Factually, he has done better. He qualified comfortably for two tournaments. That's already significantly better than both Taylor and McLaren. Keegan (who had Shearer in his prime, Owen at his best, the English core of our treble-winning team, the likes of Sol Campbell, Keown and Adams in defence) needed a playoff to qualify for Euro2000 and then jumped ship when he made a terrible start to his next qualifying campaign. He also had the highest win percentage of any England manager.

At the WC we were appalling, but overall I don't think you can say we were no better than we were. Would you e.g. bringing back Keegan and his passion would be a net improvement?

Capello's only downfall was the World Cup, where it appears he failed to keep a happy camp, able to manage a team for one or two game spells but not for the period of 4 or 5 weeks during a World Cup.

However I lay much blame at the players, people quickly forget the shambles the team was in prior to his appointment; the backlash over WagGate in 2006 and the poor qualifying campaign for 2008.

People loved it when Capello came in and put some stick about, stopped suffering fools and gave players no excuses. We soon stuffed Croatia and sailed through a good qulifying campaign.

It appears his approach may not have been apt for the harmony of the camp during the World Cup, but I lay much of the blame at sulky players lacking the social skills to do anything other than kick a ball or play on their X Boxes!!!

Remember Rio was pleased as punch when Capello first shook the squad into some shape, he's been used to the regime of Sir Alex and was glad to see a similar ethos in the England camp, but I guess some less professinal players just couldn't handle it and therefore the camp was an unharmoneous nightmare; Capello could have done better but shame on the players too!!!
