The DEFINITIVE Redknapp replacement article

Ok so there's loads of articles appearing, but this is the definitive one to discuss: IF Redknapp goes, who should be his replacement?

You can tell it's definitive, because I wrote definitive in CAPS in the title. So no arguments there...

So, let's have a vote/chat about our ideal replacements. Here's five to get you started, either vote or add your own! (Wums - go post on another article)

1 - Fabio Capello - We know he's currently out of a job, we know he has outstanding pedigree as a club coach, we know he's already in England and speaks the language (just about). But for many, the whole England debacle will put them off the idea of him managing their club (despite having a fairly good win ratio at international level).

2 - Brendan Rogers - has brought a team up from the Championship, who are now more than holding their own in the PL. Playing free flowing, attacking football - the very thing that Spurs pride themselves on. All this achieved on a very limited budget. With a bit more money, and a squad full of international quality players, what could he achieve?

3 - Jose Mourinho - Early indications are that this would be a 'fan favourite'. A charismatic, enigmatic figure, who I personally miss from being in English football. This guy does one thing - winning. He wins wherever he goes. However, many would argue that he plays 'negative, win-at-all-costs anti football' at times (see Barca v Real matches for example). Would Spurs fans be happy with this style?

4 - Gus Hiddink - It's hard to think of many higher thought of coaches in world football. Like Mourinho, has succeeded at pretty much everywhere he's gone, in many cases helping teams to achieve far more than expected (South Korea, Australia etc). Has experience in English football through his time at Chelsea - in which time he only lost 1 match (to us!).

5 - Jurgen Klinsmann - a Spurs legend from a playing perspective. Relatively early into his management career, but has done relatively well and his stock has slowly been rising. Perhaps at the right club, with the right backing, could really go on to achieve great things. And certainly a man whom the fans would be prepared to be patient with.

Who of those takes your fancy? (I'm not asking who is most likely by the way) or is there another manager that deserves consideration that I've missed?

Frank Rijkaard

How many players has José bought at Real?

What's his net transfer spend? Similarly with Inter Milan.

He only spent at Chelsea because he had to strengthen the squad and Roman was stuffing money in his hand.

jose bought ozil khadira di maria concentrao or whatever his name is.

so thats 4 straight away which probably cost about 100 mill

Rijkard is an interesting call, hadn't thought of him.

There's a misconception that José requires an enormous budget. I think if he knew he'd have players like Bale, VDV, Modric etc and perhaps up to £50mil or so to spend, it could be quite appealing to him.

How about Chris Hughton, Spurs through and through, and has proved himself at lower league level, and is now ready for the step up.

How about Chris Hughton

--------

no no no no no no no no no no no

i like him,. but no no no no no no no

how is hughton gonna attract the kind of world class striker we crave?

bale and modric will be looking closely at our appointment, and so a big name is a must in this situation.

hughton is a massive risk at a time when we cant afford it

King Chronic.........................Correct! Hughton is not in my opinion ready (or never might be) to manage at the very top. He also does not have the gravitas that people like Mourinho, Lowe, Hiddink, Hoddle etc have....................

It would be foolish to dismiss Capello as (in club football) he is one of the best around.

Clearly Jose would be fantastic, with CL football and a financial war chest in the summer, the 2012-13 season would be the most anticipated since the 60s...

A lot depends on securing CL football though which is why we need Harry to stay and focus on the job at WHL til May... Pearce can take charge of England - Holland and Harry can announce the finals squad the day after the final game of the season (Fulham)..

As for the other candidates, I agree with the above posters - Bale and Modric will be watching intently and any new manager has to be high profile as well as a step up (at least on paper) from Harry.

Hiddink, Lowe, Mancini (should City give him the bullet), Van Gaal....
