Red Russian

That's why i mentioned that we'd need Mancini to be successful this season so that Man City aren't looking for an appointment.

Everyone keeps going on about the fact he wants big funds but no one has that anymore. The FIFA ruling will take care of that.

I don't deny that the right combination of circumstances might bring Mourinho to WHL. But it still looks a bit of a long shot to me. I think he'd ideally like to move to a club with a bigger budget than Spurs. Whether or not the UEFA FFP regulations have teeth I don't know (I certainly hope so as a United supporter) but even if they do, there is a chance that the Chelsea job could become available or the United job before long. Mourinho might regard it as a better career step to take a sabbatical or an international job until the next 'big fish' becomes available. I don't mean that disrespectfully: I'd love to see Spurs push on from where they are now. But my reservation about Mourinho as a potential United manager has always been that he strikes me as a mercenary.

Moyes hardly flopped in Europe, with the players at his disposal he did an incredible job finishing 4th in the first place and the fact he was drawn against a very good Villareal team who only lost in the semi's because Riquelme bottled his penalty, didn't really give him much hope of qualification to the group stages.

Hiddink has not managed a club since 2006 (apart from a short term at CFC). He has had plenty of opportunity to go back into club management but prefers the well paid part time work of international management.

Quality he maybe, but does he have drive and desire to manage full time....his record says NO

"Whoever he is he must be high profile,a top name."

I understand your desire, but I think you are aiming too high with Jose, think more along the lines of Neil Warnock, Ian Porterfield, Darren Ferguson

Thats a touch more realistic

jose mourinho would be an intresting signing as manager.
we would see if he can actually achieve success within guide lines on how much he can spend, and see if he can gain respect as a manager who can achieve without a massive budget.

theres no way wed get mourinho. maybe if the stadium plans had pushed ahead as originally planned, but at the moment i just cant see it.

of course whoever comes in, should harry leave, the test for them would be to keep sandro, bale, modric, vdv and kaboul who would be he players who would be most likely to leave.

Please not a foreign manager just because he is a big name does not make him a good manager surely the Capello farce showed that
