Big Sam for England?

This may sound crazy… but how about Big Sam for England?
Of course everyone wants Harry to be the next England manager – and of course he won’t turn it down – but I think actually it would be better to get this tournament out of the way before appointing a manager for the long haul to the next tournament.
If Harry takes on the job and England lose all three games and are sent packing in ignominy – what then? Will Harry’s reign be tenable? Surely it’s better for him to start with a clean slate – where he’ll have 2 years to put together a squad and build a team spirit.

If Harry were to wait – and England needed a temporary manager I think there are two possibilities.
The first is Jose… he may be leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season… and though he wouldn’t want a long term contract he may be tempted by the prospect of a one tournament fling. He undoubtedly has ability – and is big enough to play his own way. The players would respect him – and his record speaks for itself… he might not play the most attractive football but he could get the team to play effectively and beat opponents.

The second option is Big Sam. Don’t laugh. He is English so ticks the box that seems so important and again he is a winner. If he wins the Championship with West Ham will he be the most successful English manager of the season? You may not want his style for the long term but in terms of getting a team to punch above its weight he has proved he can do it (no disrespect to Bolton). He is tactically astute and is his own man – he wouldn’t be pressured by the media to play a certain way.

What do you guys think?

Rafa Benitez is a great tournament manager.

Temporary Manager: Gus Hiddink.

Love your shout for José Mourinho to have a 'one tournament fling', as you put it.

Myself, I would prefer Harry to be able to manage Tottenham and England on a part-time basis but keep both jobs for as long as he feels.

I don't think taking England on now would be a good move for Harry. Not if he wants the job on a longer term basis anyway.

I think a temporary manager is the best solution.
Rafa would be good but isn't popular enough (at least not in the media). Gus I would love... he's respected thoroughly by everyone.

Jose has a love affair with the English media though... it could work!

No one fancies Big Sam then? He's be the best English option if we were to have a short term option.
