Lots of paper chat today about being linked with Aaron Lennon.
I think he's a great player, though not without faults, however I'm concerned by the fact that we seem to be linked with big money moves for any half-decent footballer with a British passport.
It seems to me as if we've adopted Spurs' old transfer policy.
Lennon has one attribute that differs from the other players that we've been linked with in that he has pace. We've been linked with some good passing footballers, but I think in the event of an injury to Suarez or Gerrard, we are going to have a very static front 5. Perhaps this is where Lennon comes in.
If the transfers for Adam and Downing do come off, plus Lennon we then have at least 2 very good players for every position across midfield. I think it also might suggest that we won't be buying another striker, but in the event of injury to Carroll or Suarez will use a 5 man midfield with Kuyt alone up front and Gerrard in the hole.
All of this before the European window opens on July 1st. I know PL experience is important, but do you think all of our buys are going to be domestic this season? OR are the papers just linking us with everyone British?

Too many midfielders mate.
Think you need to concentrate on your defence now.

2 teams are better than 1.
Quite simple really.

You have no chance of getting Lennon.

Cannot, just cannot see it. Pure speculation by our glorious Press trying - and failing - to fill in a spot in their papers. At the very start of the season, some two seasons ago, we played them at WHL. Defoe, and Lennon especially, marked for me the begining of the end of Jamie C's career. He simply couldn't match them for pace; they passed him by. That having been said, Lennon, like Pennant before him, is not the finished article. What I've noticed, esp when he is playing for your national squad - and I am supporting the opposition, naturally - is that his final ball is simply not there. You may think me harsh, great player, fantastic speed, acceleration, ball control but, and its a big but, his final ball seems to be lacking. for my money, he is not worth the risk; he falls neatly in the 'Joe Cole' category.
