Carnival atmosphere in Sharjah's 200th ODI and its the arch rival Afghanistan vs Pakistan in action today for the first time in their cricketing history.
Afghanishan started in a brisk manner but lost way in the middle and currently are 93/4 in 18th over.Shahid Afridi, the pakistani international of afghani root pulled the proceedings in paks favour with yet another brilliant display of legspin bowling taking 3 wickets in the process.
Really enjoying any ODIs after a long time.
Afghanistan V Pakistan:sharjah special.

After England's defeat I looked at the ICC rankings and was astonished to see Bangladesh had fallen to just 4 ranking points. Surely they cannot be allowed to continue as a full test team.

How is their pace attack? From what I saw last time, it was fairly decent.

Bangladesh rating is 8.

When I looked their rating was 4, I can read you know. Presumably you think 8 is enough to warrant playing with the big boys.

I did say "I can read you know". I also noted that Zimbabwe had not played sufficient games to qualify for ranking but had 42 points which puts the ranking of Bangladesh into perspective.

Now I am not one to slate players unrationally. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of the team and think we have done really well to reach 2 finals on the trot. However, I was very disappointed with Sangakkara's captaincy on the day of the final.
When Tendulkar was dismissed, Sri Lanka were on top without a doubt. The team should have put pressure on the 2 new batsmen. Built up pressure and worked on getting that requred run rate up as quick as possible...but it never happened. They were never made to work hard for their runs, and had an easy 5 or 6 runs available every over without breaking into a sweat.
Kulasekara and Perera were not looking threatening at all and yet they both bowled in tandem and this allowed India to take the initiative back. It never went in SL's favour again. The moment was lost.
Even when Gambhir was dismissed at the end, it gave the slightest of hopes which goes to show how it could have made a difference earlier on. Sanga's head was down. I didn't hear him say a word for most of that run chase. Why wasn't he encouraging everyone around him? His face had the look of defeat a long time before it actually came. We didn't fight right until the end and that's what disappoints me.
I won't blame him too much for the changes to the team, and besides Mendis I don't have a problem with the other decisions. I just feel that his field positions and bowling changes were not up to scratch today. Too many easy singles. India were always comfortable with the run rate.
When things are not going your way, I would expect the captain to be more inventive and try to make something happen. I appreciate that the quality of the opposition batsmen was exceptionally good. However I feel that Sanga was just hoping for something to happen. It never did.
