There have been many great fighting games since Super NES and Sega Genesis, but which were the best for you?
Now ever since those 16 bit days of old the likes of Mortal Kombat were pushing the limits so much so that people would judge a system depending on which port of the arcade was the most faithful. Super NES with its slightly more 3D graphics and closer to original sized fighters or better color scheme and actual blood from Sega Genesis. As fighters they were the best of their time...or we're they? I'm sure Capcom's Street Fighter II would have something to say about that.
The evolution of fighters was very dramatic with the constant sequels of Mortal Kombat to the sequel of Street Fighter II....Street Fighter II. And after that Street Fighter II..............you know what I mean. Anyway, I thought one fighter which came along changed everything. Virtua Fighter.
Virtua Fighter combined real styles of fighting(mostly) and gave them an amazing combat system with a slightly over the top ability to jump and float. A game not for the average gamer but made for those who were able and willing to put in the time to learn the mechanics. Each sequel has gone on to improve on its predecessor.
Now there have been many amazing fighters. We've been given Tekken, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive, the many cartoony Capcom fighters. So I ask again, which is your favorite fighting game and maybe leave a small reason why?
Fighters

Soul Calibur II was good. The story mode was different to anything at the time.
Virtua Fighter 4 was the only VF I played. Was decent.
Most of my memories are with Tekken 2,3 and 5 though.

I was one of the five people who bought a sega saturn I played a lot of VF. I did have a playstation with Tekken as well but i did prefer VF.
A much underrated title from the Megadrive days was Eternal Champions, only let down by a ridiculously difficult arcade mode.
