Owls v Grecians Match Thread

How do lads and lasses, first stab at this for a while. This game is the same as the rest from now on in if we want to achieve our ultimate aim, i.e. it is must win.

A tough game and not the easiest place to go to, as we can testify to all too well. I was there that horrible day in December 2010, a new low as a Wednesday fan and a day I do not wish to be reliving any time soon. I won't be there as I'll be looking after my lad who at the grand old age of 13 days will be listening, and no doubt grumbling, along with his old man to the game.

Having been away for 6 months I can only comment on the odd snippet of information my old man has passed along to me, but I have kept up to date with our progress, so forgive me for any scathing remarks or undue praise.

I can't make my mind up whether or not to stick with Bywater or go with Weaver again. It was a bit disappointing to see Bywater beaten with the first goal the other night, although he could do nothing with the other two.

I notice that we have the third most potent attack in the league, but the one thing I thought we would have had sewn up, i.e. the defence, is lacking a touch. The goal difference we have is almost worth another point to our rivals. Rob Jones, providing he's fit should start, but bring Beavers in again?, is his heart still in it for us. He probably will start given that Reida is out for the game.

As much as he tries for us, Morrison isn't the man when it comes to sticking it in the back of the onion bag. I'd go with Lowe and Madine up front from the start. I notice too that JJ has rediscovered his shooting boots, or is it more a case of he's just been firing that many attempts at goal that one or two are bound to go in eventually.

Even though Exeter sit just two points above the drop zone, I certainly wouldn't grumble about coming away with a 1-0 victory, even if that does fly in the face of my wish to get the goal difference up.

You can guarantee that if anyone will cause a few problems up front then it will be Nardiello, always a handful at this level. At the back they have the wonderfully named Troy Archibald-Henville, who you may remember scored the winner against us in S6 last season, and is a decent player. Liam Sercombe is a decent man in the middle for them too, so we will have a job on our hands.

I certainly can't see us getting tonked like we were last season, however if we make the mistake of underestimating them then we will be on for another shock. Games like this define a season, small ground, poor weather, long journey. Games where you should, but rarely do, win comfortably.

Get the ball down and play as we can then we'll be fine, but let a side desperate for points play as they can in front of a fervent home support then who knows. I'm going for 2-0 to us with Semedo and Lowe getting the goals.

Best of luck to the Owls fans travelling down there and let's hope the long, long journey is worth it.

UP THE OWLS!!!!

The league table has a rather familiar look. We're in 2nd place, losing games, with other teams having games in hand. Come on Wednesday we cant bottle it again.

Thanks for the thread Tom. We need a loanee or two to steady the ship. Madine without Marshall is like bread without butter or fish without chips!
