Sri Lanka budget for Australia series

To paraphrase from Cricinfo article:
http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-sri-lanka-2011/content/current/story/520814.html

"Overall, the SLC had budgeted ..$ 2.67 million... for the tour that comprises three Tests, five ODIs and two Twenty20s. The projected income is about half of that.......Entire security budget now is $ 81,000."

This is bad at so many levels.

1. If even Australia tour is not profitable, should Sri Lanka even be playing so many tests? Why not a compressed 2 week tour of 1 test, 3 ODIs, 1 T20?

2. And Sri Lanka wants to spend another $60,000 a day on UDRS?

Your opinions?

On crickinfo 'bowling at boycs' i heard boycott talking about this subject.
He said that only India, England, Australia and maybe SA have money.
He claimed that the poorer countries were desperate to have India tour their country as that's the only way they make money.
This is why ' he said' that India has so much power in world cricket and can get their own way at the ICC.

Hope,

"He claimed that the poorer countries were desperate to have India tour their country as that's the only way they make money."

Clearly that is not a sustainable model. Some radical thinking is needed for smaller boards- 3 day mini tests, shorter break between games, etc.

The insistence on UDRS by the smaller boards in the face of these finances is all the more insane.

Cricket boards themselves are to blame for the losses.they dont do enough promotion to get the spectators into the ground.the stadium is not spectator friendly.
Nowadays, you hardly see any spectator during tests and odi's in srilanka, test matches are usually held in weekdays(monday/tuesday-thursday/friday)
while looking at those test matches in tv, it feels like some kind of local matches,no atmosphere at all, which makes for a dull cricket viewing in TV.
So boards should first make people come into the stadium.they shouldnt only care about tv.
Look at american baseball league,a team plays every day of week, against same opposition, then again most often you see near full houses.thats an example of dull sport made interesting by crowd atmosphere.
Just imagine an EPL match played infront of empty stands, looks just like cricket matches in those countries.
So cricket boards should make an event of these test matches.
Come on even an spectator-unfriendly sport like golf brings in so many thousand of spectator to their "stadium" where people have no comfort of just sitting and enjoying the match.
If golf can do it,certainly test matches can.
