Just got in from the Reebok, numb in more ways than one I tell you...
Where do I start?
Well I'll start with the team selection. Oh dear.
Firstly, it's obvious to anyone who knows even very little about football, which I don't because I know quite a lot that 4-4-2 just does not work for us with the players we've got for whatever reason, which isn't relevant or matter right now.
It took Coyle half a season to figure this out, when must of us probably figured it out after the first six or seven games. Ok, I'll let him off against the bigger teams but, for example Norwich at home, around that period.
Why didn't he change it then? Who knows? Coyle could take plenty of positives from our performances.
When he did eventually change it, you could tell how much more comfortable the players looked. Fabrice Muamba is and I've said this before a massive player for BWFC - not the best football player but he's the spine in our team. He gives the likes of Reo-Coker and especially Mavies freedom to do what they like in areas of the field that matter.
Last week I moaned at Coyle, for replacing Muamba for Davies. This goes back to the Newcastle game at home, and many other times that Coyle has replaced Muamba and our result has worsened. What the bleedin' 'ell does Coyle have against Muamba? I genuinely do feel sorry for the guy. His name should be first on the teamsheet, week in week out, no question...
Basically it is the same school boy, naive mistakes being made by Coyle more and more often.
In a way I feel sorry for the players especially in midfield because they get the most slack; they don't seem to know whether they're coming or going in the middle.
It's so frustrating because we know it! It's obvious!
So why isn't it to him?!?!?
Coyle has got plenty to answer for!!!!!!!!!

When the teamsheets were read out at the match, every fan I spoke to knew it was a disaster before it happened.
The fans knew 4-5-1 was best before he did.
The fans knew Mavis is a very effective player in a 4-51 before he did.
The fans know we haven't the quality of players to do 4-4-2, but Owen Coyle has yet to realise this.

Interesting statistic here for you Bricks ... Not that we didn't know, mind you ...
When Muamba has played the full 90:
W5 D2 L1
When subbed off:
W0 D0 L9
When he didn't play:
W1 D0 L7

That is interesting LeighWanderer.
Surely a Premiership manager should be aware of such statistics and play to them accordingly?

Well he should, but Coyle obviously isn't. Hence why he is not a "Barclays Premier League" manager but a Cahmpionship one at best.

Amazingly about Muamba stats there is, he seemed to have more haters than supporters. Yet his effective is beyond debate.
However, woul he be in team if Holden was fit? I dnt think he would.
That being said he is a brilliant defensive midfielder.

Defensive midfielders never win plaudits from fans as a lot of their work is the dirty unimaginitive stuff, but essential.
Makele at Chelsea.
Carrick at ManU.
Key players in their teams success, but not particularly the fans favourites.

agree wholeheartedly with everything the OP said. Coyle went back to 442, why? 451 has worked well in the main recently.
Mark Davies just cant play as one of two centre mids, he needs the security of at least one holding midfielder and as for SKD, Bolton legend but his time is up, at least for starting games.
The last two games have completely undone the good work of the last few weeks.
