Whenever a controversal incident like this non-handshake occurs, much focus is what the players say on twitter in response. What did Suarez say? What did Ferdinand say? It's now common practise.
Why is so much focus given on twitter? Why don't these players come out and give interviews themselves if they've got something to say?
Anyone can post anything on twitter, i could pretend to be Suarez, Evra or Mr. Blobby. It's meaningless.
I'm probably biased because i hate social networking sites. But these players seem to spend lots of time posting totally biased and sub-human intelligence remarks, fanning the flames without giving any meaningful information.
Is it some sort of conspiracy to incite hatred between fans? I can't see why else they do it.

If they give an interview, they open themselves up to leading questions and media spin.
When they right on twitter, it is a simple view that is there for all to see.
I also disliked twitter for a long time, but I get it know. I think it is a great tool for players.

Whilst I think it is stupid that the players even use twitter, it makes great entertainment for the fans!

Yeh but its got its downsides. Like for example. Rooney and Ferdinand coming out and saying they want Redknapp as England manager. Why are they're sticking their noses in? What happens if they dont appoint Redknapp? Would they be fully behind the new guy?
But its got its upsides. One example i found good was Rooney coming out and telling everyone about his hair transplant before the media told everyone. Good move by him/his pr team

Twitter is such a good site! I wouldn't bother giving interviews either if I was a player. You control twitter comments. No one can twist 'em unlike interviews.

He was winding them up in the week as well, saying the Suarez should've been sent off and something about league titles, i love the fact Wayne hates Liverpool as much as the Utd fans do!

Twitter is like everything else; it depends on how you use it. It's a great resource for news and not so great if your wanting to find out what certain celebrities had for their dinner.

There are two sides to Twitter.
Many football fans complain that players are distant from fans nowadays. Twitter allows fans to reconnect directly with players and vice versa. When used in this manner, for q & a's and the like that fans would not usually get the opportunity to catch players in a relaxed manner, it is a positive tool.
The negative, obviously, is that players are now using it as a tool to get themselves in the media and to air their opinions about ongoing events. They shouldn't be doing that obviously, they can have an opinion of course, but to air it publicly is unnecessary in often inflammatory.
I could see the Premier League or the FA banning players from using Twitter in the near future, or at least controlling the use a lot more, because unless they do, players will continue to say stupid things that don't help matters, and the media will continue to try and make a story even if there isn't one.
