Fellow Ireland fans do you rate Keith Andrews?
I'm in two minds myself. I rate him due to the fact he always gives 100% for the shirt but like his partner in the Irish midfield Glen Whelan he tends to give the ball away a bit too much for my liking. Which of course is a dangerous thing to be doing against top class international Footballers. And we will be coming up against a lot of them at this summers Euro Finals.
And of course he did score the vital first goal in our 4-0 away victory in the Euro Finals qualifier first leg against Estonia.
Good to see him back in the Premiership with West Brom. Good goal as well on his debut against Wolves last weekend.
I would imagine as well that he doesn't have too many years left in International Football as like Robbie Keane he will be 32 later this year.
Keith Andrews whats your opinion.

Average at best but we have to get behind him even tho we will have better players on the bench in the Euros and maybe even better watching on tv in there homes

By all means slate the guy as much as you like, along with Andrews, if we get hammered by Spain, Italy and Croatia in the Euros.....
But last time I checked it, we're going to our first major tournament in 10 years and our first Euros in 24 years!!!
Many midfield duos have tried and failed in the past to bring us qualification, including the mighty Andy Reid and the delusional Stephen Ireland, yet it was the two battlers Andrews and Whelan who finally succeeded!
Given all there hard work and qualification success, I think they deserve their chance.
...and honestly I think a battling midfield duo will stand a much better chance against Spain and Italy than say a footballing midfield duo of McCarthy and Gibbo, who would get absolutely slaughtered by the far technically superior Xavi/Iniesta/Pedro/Silva/Fabregas/Villa.
Lets stick to our strengths.
You don't beat the likes of Spain by playing pretty football, just ask Switzerland/England

I think Andrews is the better of the midfield pair. Whelan for me does not contribute a whole lot. He's a defensive midfielder who's not very good at defending. Dangerous. He will be found out at the Euros

they deserve their shot....
to be honest lads....the amount of stuff thats happened to ireland as a country , its just great that we have something to look forward to in the summer...and i dont give a monkeys if we get hammered .....be a good session if its anything like the world cup 2002 ...
ps..as for stevie ireland......the guy should be drop kicked as far away from the irish set up as possible ....to think his missus was in the star last week saying that he is only a phone call away as if trapp is gonna call up stevie in place of a lad that busted his backside to get us there in the first
deluisonal little toe rag

So Andrews will be "found out" against the midfield of Spain and Italy, but McCarthy/Gibbo etc obviously won't??
I couldn't care less if Andrews looks like a donkey for 90 minutes, as long as he gives 100% commitment and we get the points we need, then that to me is better than looking flash and going home with nul point.
We've got the better of Italy on 3 ocassions with Andrews and Whelan in the first XI, remember that.

I like andrews as a player. not too kean on Whelan but why do people go on as if they are two hard tackling, combative midfielders. While on loan at ipswich Keith Andrew was a goalscoring midfielder not a ball winner and he seems to have started in the same manner at West Brom. And Glenn Whelan, last time i checked James McCarthy makes more successful tackles per game than him.
