HAMILTON'S ARROGANCE

is terrible.
The off-form McLaren driver has failed to impress in the last 2 races and now lies 4th in the drivers standing's.
He comes out and says he won't be able to win the Silverstone GP.McLaren are planning to sack the driver.
Do you think that will teach him some humility?

good article, hamilton is overated, no more than a 1 season wonder. he has won no more titles than his teammate and this season he is only the second best driver in his own team so far, whilst vettel is around i cant see hamilton winning a title again.

vettel is far superior

I cant see hamilton winning anything unless he joins red bull, he doesnt seem to have the fight and grit that alonso had to claw back the big deficit last year even though he didnt win, he came mighty close

Hamilton?

He's a great, end of. Get over it.

"And so Mr Ali, what is your greatest asset?"

I have TWO greatest assets,
1. I'm very humble,
2. I AM the greatest".

Yeah, right.

Yaun another Hamilton hater..........just get lost.
How is he Arrogant and a Bottler?? Just a hater, get lost, you arent a real F1 Fan!!!!!!

I'm not saying I agree with the description of Hamilton as a bottler and arrogant, but I'm not sure why some of you think the two qualities are mutually exclusive. Of course a person can be arrogant and a bottler at the same time.

Arrogant - has heightened opinion of his own abilities.
Bottler - freezes or fails when the pressure is on.

Where's the problem?

However Hamilton does not appear to be a bottler to me.

------------------------------------

Can't agree with you there i'm afraid. As you say arrogance is a heightened belief in your own ailities, yes. A bottler is someone who, when the pressure is on, does not have enough confidence in their own ability to see the job through, so they bottle it. Not sure how someone can have a heightened belief in their ability, but lacks confidence in their ability when the pressure is on and bottle it. Hey ho

Arrogance and confidence are two different things. Plus bottling is about lacking nerve.

But even if we were to use your definitions, do you think it is impossible for an arrogant person to have a crisis of confidence?

"Not sure how someone can have a heightened belief in their ability, but lacks confidence in their ability when the pressure is on and bottle it."
I'm not sure why you think this is a contradiction. Plenty of people have beliefs which crumble when put under pressure.

I am aware they are two different things, but thanks.
All i am saying, in this example used by the OP ,is that i don;t think someone he has described as a bottler could also fit the description of what he called, the most arrogant man on the track.
Anyway, here's hoping Hamilton puts on a good show on Sunday>

But if you know they are different things, why can't the OP statement that Hamilton is "arrogant but a bottler" be true? I don't think it's correct to apply that to Hamilton, but of course it's possible.

For an example, look at the english national football team. Incredibly arrogant, hopeless bottlers when it matters.
